I remember reading that they had planned to do more scenes showing their
relationship and his devotion to her, but they never got to.

I do not think so.  Someone pointed out that the story is more about Lestat.  
Unfortunately I did not read Queen of the Damned.  Also, I believe filming was 
complete before she died, but don’t quote me.

should never had been named "Queen of the Damned."  it should have been 'Lestat 
the Vampire' just as the book was titled.  to only show Akasha in the last 30 
minutes of the movie was a total disappointment.

Well, the novel "The Vampire Lestat" would have made a better movie and sequel 
to "Interview with the Vampire."  IMHO, "Lestat" is a better book (in much the 
way "Godfather 2" is a better movie than "The Godfather").  But, "Queen of the 
Damned" was the hot Ann Rice book out when the Townsend movie was made.  

That said, Akasha IS a minor character in the book, too.

star take in "Queen of the Damned" (a damned good movie to watch with the sound 
off).  Anyhoo, I am rather geeked by the prospect of the worldly Downey playing 
the otherworldly Lestat.
