Re: [scifinoir2] Re: Holy Casting Call, Batman!

I'm pretty sure the first TV Catwoman in the '60s series was Julie Newmar. But
i'm always clamoring for getting *good* actors and not *name* actors, so I'd
much rather see a little-known or unknown actress who can do the role.

2009-08-31 Thread Keith Johnson
I think Elisha Dushku is a much better actress than Bloodgood, whom I just
don't see as Catwoman. That's back to the typical Catwoman-is-pretty thing, and
i'm really feeling a more worn looking character.

Eliza is pretty enough but she is a bit lightweight in the acting department.

My picks:
Rosario Dawson. Nuff said.

Maggie Q. She was in Mission Impossible 3, Live Free or Die Hard and a ton of
movies from Hong Kong. Her "exotic" looks(she's biracial- Asian and Caucasian),
solid acting and action movie resume make her a good fit.

Moon Bloodgood. Fits in the same box as Maggie Q in a lot of ways but with
better name recognition. Unfortunately she's in her early 30s so that may be
too old for Hollywood.

I think you're a bit hard on Moon. she was pretty good in
Terminator: Salvation and she seems to be a bit of a hot commodity right now.
She's not a great actress but she might have the right mix of skills for the
role. Unfortuantely I think she's commited to a tv series.

Maggie Q can actually act a lil bit. For real. LOL.

Not feeling Ms. Dawson. Don't really need a "name" for this one. But we could
go old school and have Gabrielle Union.Remember who was the first .Ms. Kitt

I agree with your first pick and disagree on your other 2...Moon is another
that is only really working because she can read lines and is moderately
attractive

I think Eliza is pretty...but not Mila Jovich prettymeaning that it
doesnt matter at all that she cant act because she is incredibly hot.
Neither Eliza nor Mila nor Moon can actrealtalk

that works, because in the Year One books, I believe Kyle was initially
portrayed as a prostitute or madam. Or perhaps neither, but she definitely gave
shelter and aid to prostitutes, as a way to help other women for whom life had
just gone horribly wrong. What you're describing is the way I see her too: not
someone leaping over rooftops and doing gymnastics moves while fighting Batman,
but a used up, fading figure.

The script i imagine Nolan and Bro writing would have Catwoman as a creepy
plastic-like diva that thinks she is the fairest woman in the land but is a
hair away from freak show

Re-invent catwoman as a crime boss and not a cat burgular...maybe a retired cat
burgular but now runs a lucrative network of theives...

I could see it working, in line with my wanting to see the more world weary

older one like Cher will not pass studio muster, though...

I would buy that. If they would create a plausible backstory for that it
would be cool with me. But then again, one of the things about catwoman was
she was the darker bad female batman. There was always a lot of sexual
tension between them.
