I looked it up myself, saw where they departed from the original. I admit that I wasn't moved to watch the original, even when it was on IFC the other night. Did anyone see this film? This movie bounces somewhere between bad cop film and a twisted pulp fiction wannabe. There are some moments in the film where it gets just weird. Hallucinations of iguanas being one of them. Its like they were intentionally trying to make it into a cult film. Nicholas Cage's wooden policeman was hard to watch at times. Even the original was a remake. The original was a remake from a French film that was just as gritty.
