Re: [scots-l] Internet Radio Station for Scottish Traditional Music
This sounds pretty good, just on a 33.6K modem here, but every few minutes it stutters a bit. Why no DJ Toby?:) Derek Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html

'Your tuned to Radio Toby...' etc. Or are you always doomed to be a phantom? Last night I moved the server to a location with alot more bandwidth which fixed alot of the frequent rebuffering. Then I experimented with increaing the streaming rate, but I found that it made it rebuffer even more for people connecting with modems. So I left it at 32 bits, which is the same as FM radio, which made the rebuffering rate more acceptable. The fidelty of FM radio sounds good enough for my purposes. I was able to sucessfully boost the maximum number of connections up to 7. Hello, Actually you could put some occasional Toby Radio id's in. Just put them in the WinAmp playlist. I seem to remember some automation software around that would let you do more complex stuff. Another idea is to record two or more songs in one file and announce what thay are at the end. I did some stuff in 'show format' using MP3 (two 50 minutes). I used 32k mono so it would sound decent. Problem is you really need a 56k modem unless you download. You cannot download live streams. What really surprised me is people liked that I did not talked over the music. It was a side effect as I assembled it out of .wav files (including my annoucements) and did not want to do additional work crossfading it. I listen alot to techie radio on both TVRO satellite and internet. I think it is neat. 73 Eric [EMAIL PROTECTED] Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html

I believe you can bypass the above and put: http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-playlist.pls?rn=241546addr=207.136.137.69:8000file=filename.pls direct into RealPlayer's Favorites area. This would bypass the browser and ads. Also (once online) into RP's Location thing (Ctrl-L). Maybe that's illegal, though. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- - I am Abby Sale - in Orlando, Florida Boycott South Carolina! http://www.naacp.org/communications/press_releases/SCEconomic2.asp Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
