But what happened to the likes of Philip Whittaker and are you still there, Chic? Does Erica still listen in? Jan Tappan? Haven't heard from Timothy for a while. I'm still lurking, Nigel. The last couple years have been taken up with negotiating a settlement in my divorce (nearly finished) so I haven't had much time to read or write to the list. Still fiddling, though, and getting ready at the moment for a concert on April 7th and a dance benefit for a friend with cancer on March 31st. Just back from Thailand where I saw my daughter sing the title role in a new opera in Bangkok - great fun! but hardly of much interest to folks on this list. I'm starting to become paranoid abouts pesticides.. Hello Toby, It was a one-off event; I was living on a farm and ate some heavily contaminated food growing there, and got really ill. I also contracted encephalitis at around the same time (I was living up north in the subtropics), which compounded matters considerably. I've been chronically ill more or less ever since due to liver and nervous system damage. It's a long and messy story which I won't bore the list with, but I will permit myself one grumble: being so ill for so long has made enormous inroads into my progress as a musician. Music was the centre of my life before I was ill, and I'm lucky if I can pick up the fiddle once a month these days. On the other hand if I hadn't been bedridden for so long, I'd have probably never bothered to get on the internet, and then I'd never have found scot-l so I guess there are some consolations g So keep those inspiring posts coming, all of you best, Erica Mackenzie Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html

Gary occasionally posts to rec.music.makers.squeezebox (a group I follow as I'm thinking of getting a CBA when I can afford it) but he seems to be too busy performing (and probably trying out his new Kravtsov box) to participate regularly. Philip was in touch with me by email a few months ago but I don't recall seeing him on a public forum since. === http://www.purr.demon.co.uk/jack/ === Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html

I've been too ill and weak to play much music or do much typing, but I read the list daily. It makes a cheery start to my day as I sit here in bed trying to decipher broad Scots on the screen of the trusty PowerBook which sits on my lap. best, Erica Mackenzie Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html

Is it really four years of Scots-L? Congratulations on providing a major resource for loves of Scots music everywhere! Regards, Ted -Original Message- From: Toby Rider [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 29 January 2001 19:01 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [scots-l] Official scots-l site So after 4 years of the Scots-L list being in existance, I've finally made a resolution to myself that it's time to create comprehensive website to support the list. I'd like to ask for content submissions from list members. Anything you'd like to see on the site, whether it be essays, images, sound samples, etc.. Please submit them to me and I will acknowledge you on list. Thanks!
