Re: [sdre-l]: you wanna hear some kids?

I've always interperated the intro to "tearing in my heart" as a cometary on
the newly-popular-in-indie-circles band BELLE AND SEBASTIAN, who sample kids
playing on playgrounds in about three songs per album. S/S/I (Sorry So
Indie)

By the way. I think "The Prophet" is about Kahil Gibran's book by the same
name. It's about a prophet waiting for a ship to arrive to take him to the
land he was born in. He's lived in the town the book takes place in for
like 25 years and all the people of the town gather around him to ask about
all sorts of life's issues, and his answers are the books chapters. I found
it for sale in New York's NOHO neighborhood on this table full of books this
guy had read. It was really awesome. Great book. (This all took place last
week)

[sdre-l]: In geral with this weeks talk

1999-11-29 Thread christopher zervos

Wow.

I feel like everyone here is running around doing the same things I am.

Anyway, concerning the comments made about the Get Up Kids show, man emo
shows seem to always suck. I saw Sunny day at the Metro here in Chicago,
and it just seemed like all of the people in the audience were so tired.
Nobody moved at all. They just stared and drank. If anyone here has that
show anywhere I'd love to acquire it. I just think that I didn't get to
enjoy it as much as I could have if I had been painting or something at the
time insted of being bummed out by the people around me. (If you want, I
can trade copys of a few rare things I have by SDRE in return)

A little off of the subject, I saw the Get Up Kids at the same venue the
year before, and man was it awesome. It was their 300th show that year, and
to celebrate, they were takeing a break from live shows after that night.
Their girlfriends and families flew in to surprise them. It was so cute.
Not to mention that the headliner was the now defunct Braid, who also played
a phenomenal set. Then both bands did a song toghther! I just got a really
good show for my 15 bucks (or something like that.) But yeah, the audience
was all really girly boys who couldn't grow mustaches in cowboy outfits and
all of their girlfriends who all would have been at the hight of fashion had
they been boys.
