Debbie .. try turning your hardware graphics down a notch or two ..
right click an empty spot on your desktop and go to properties .. then
settings .. then advanced .. and you will see a tab called performance ..
take the setting down a notch ... or all the way to none.

Solved a lot of problems I've come across, especially with Win98 ..
Dell/Gateway computers. Nvidia video cards are notorious for unexpected
problems with certain softwares.

Fred Langa's been writing about just this very issue about system
resources.

Debbie..I agree with Alan. I had more crashes WITH Norton's installed, so I run my
Norton's from the CD! Norton's is like 700mb huge!

I dunno bout you, but I'd rather keep those resources for music or games to occupy my
time when I'm in the middle of a gigunda download.

Besides, other than not having acess to the "undo" feature, the scan/Norton's is
EXACTLY the same.

#2 Besides.. Who would want to "UNDO" any problems that Norton's would fix?

Debbie, a second thought. If you have Norton set so that System Doctor is
running all the time, change the settings to avoid this and see if your
problem disappears. It isn't necessary to have it running all the time if
you take care of your system.

My first thoughts are to suggest you disable the Norton System Doctor.
I learned years ago that crash protectors did more harm than good.
They are all resource intensive. I actually used to crash more with
the protectors than without them. They are just not worth the
resources you give up to use them.

Let me also suggest this, Debbie. Go to Help.com and enter the
following string into the search box at the top of the page:

"GDI resources are low"

http://www.help.com/

Then scroll down to the section "Newsgroup Subjects" and you will see
about three links to questions asked similar to your own. Click those
links and at the bottom of each question, are "Replies" links. Read
some of the answers others got to your same question. I think some of
the answers there will guide you or at least give you some good answers
to consider.

Debbie, adding more memory isn't always the answer. Take a look at Fred
Langa's discussion and suggested remedies in Part 3 of his recent article:
