I think Rodolfo is right about 'forward only' and we should update the wiki too. There are 2 details to keep in mind when editing named.conf.in - It has several sections, nd you have to add the 'forwarders' line in the right section. As in the example here, it has to be inside of 'options': http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch6/#forwarding - After editing named.conf.in, you must rerun domain_config cheers, m On Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 5:22 PM, Rodolfo D. rodolfo.arc...@gmail.com wrote: Espanol: Creo que la opcion forward only; esta de mas, podrias probar sacarla Creo que esa opcion hace que bind pregunte directamente a otros dns, y hay ciertas zonas que deberian de buscarse en la tabla local English: I think the opction forward only; is not supposed to be there, could you try reconfigure and test I think that makes BIND only ask other DNS servers, and there are some zones that should be looked at localy saludos.. cheers.. Re: [Server-devel] Allowing Auto-Login to Moodle from 2 Domains
Let me explain my setup in a little more detail. The server DNS is currently set to the standard schoolserver.notredame.sn. I grabbed a host redirect at no-ip.com pointing to my WAN router and subsequently the server at http://notredamemboro.no-ip.info (have a look). My intention is to allow the kids to access server services such as Moodle if they are sick or during the weekends. Believe it or not, a number of the kids have access to wifi outside of school. My other primary reason is to allow the kids in each class to make weekly blog posts to document their experiences. Making the host redirect resolve properly on the LAN is a piece of cake just appending the address to the hosts file. As you can see right now, everything works except moodle on the WAN. I can make it work on the WAN by modifying the code in /config.php by simply modifying $CFG-wwwroot. This allows for everything to resolve correctly on the LAN WAN but breaks auth/olpcxs. To test, I redefined XS_FQDN and replaced 'schoolserver' with the WAN host name. Again, everything resolves correctly, but auth doesn't work correctly. If I were to register an XO with the domain no-ip.info, I imagine it would work, but wouldn't that require patching a good deal of the ejabberd config also? Would it be terribly complicated to rework auth to base authentication simply on UUID and serial number on any domain? If you think this is more work than it is worth, it isn't necessary by any means. I just think it would be convenient. Re: [Server-devel] RACHEL, another developing world server project, would like to have a discussion with XS
Hi Martin, thanks for the warm welcome! We would definitely welcome re-use of the content, but since I'm relatively new to this particular project I don't have an expert sense of the particular permissions we have with the content providers as is. I will look into it. Indexing: none! All of the content is currently listed on the index page with bare HTML. In our defense, this is a relatively new and shorthanded project, and our very first priority is gathering content while the indexing is supposed to follow later. I agree that indexing is sorely needed if we want to bring this to scale. The wikislice we're using for the moment is the 2008/9 Wikipedia Selection for schools, which is handpicked front-to-back to fit the UK national curriculum. The website with details for that is at http://schools-wikipedia.org/ Currently for languages and localization, we're definitely improvising based on locales we've visited and are planning to visit, and we attempt to gauge what we can get away with as we go. We have English and Spanish content so far. This project has a voracious appetite for content, and as such we'd rather stuff the project with content first regardless of compatibility with open projects like Gnash. As is, the donated user equipment we've encountered so far runs Flash on donated Windows, so at the moment mandating standards on our (generous) content providers doesn't seem like the best proposition at this time. Nightly updates are on the drawing board as a feature and have been for months. Again we've got limited manpower on this project, so once we find a solution and a dedicated volunteer we can take a crack at it. You can probably tell from this that this project is in a very early stage as far as maturity of the platform is concerned. I'm working to engage you folks at an early stage in case you have something grand to teach us :-) Please let me know if you have any other questions! Again, our approach here is content-first, which does have its weaknesses but it has been working surprisingly well so far.
