i just got my van and my turbo and rings are shot, i just found a replacement t2 turbo and i might just do a cheap re-ring job while i build a good engine. i sold a a-555 to a local guy who was putting a dohc head from a neon on his 2.2 or 2.5. on my motor i'll be building i was thinking about this option as well. how reliable is this combo, what do you use for manifolds turbo's etc. dose anyone sell any kits? and what kind of numbers can you get out of these vs. a ported polished big valve g head with a roller cam? i want to get my van at least running high 12's and 11's if possible. i don't think a 11 is achievable with a sohc . anyhow any advise on if it would be worth it to go with a neon head, and how it would compare to a t3 or masseratti head motor. i'm looking for something that will be easy to make work, and something reliable as well. thanks chris ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? i was at the junkyard and pulled a roller cam from a 2.5 turbo to put in my van with a g head, upon taking my valve cover off i noticed i already had a roller cam. it had a l-14 in it the one from the yard was a l-12. i'm not sure what would be best for a fairly modified t2 2.5 turbo van. i was going to order an aftermarket one down the road , but figured a quick cheap swap would be ok as well. my valve cover was giving me lots of blow by out the breather hole, i was told it was due to bad rings, but it seemed like a lot of oil. now i have the turbo valve cover with the breather baffle thing that bolts to the cover. i noticed this had no curtain that covers the valvetrain. is it suppost to be there or is it not really necessary with this cover. i was blowing through quarts of oil every hundred miles or so coming back from texas. my turbo died and i pluged the oil suppy from the block and left the oil line to the turbo unhooked. on the way back home going through the hills my top speed was as low as 50mph. i'm going to get another 2.5 short block and do a cheap rering job while i go all out on the next engine i'll be putting in her. ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? I NOTICED THE DRIVERS CARAVAN SHAFT HAS A WEIGHT ON IT, SHOULD I REMOVE THE WEIGHT ON BOTH OR NEITHER OR JUST LEAVE THE DRIVERS ONE WITH ONE. I WANT TO RUN A MANUAL RACK ON MY 89 VAN AS WELL, THEY SAY 84-88 ITS AN OPTION 89-90 ITS NOT.EVEN IN POWER RACKS 84-88 IS DIFFERENT FROM 89-90. MY VAN IS NEAR IDENTICAL. 91 Lebaron Gtc Convertible Turbo Auto i was going to fix this car up and drive it awhile, so i'm asking 1500 as she sits. body is in very good shape interior is fairly good too. as it sits it has 90,000 original miles, i just put a new timing belt and headgasket on it. it has the leater wrapped steering wheel, the am/fm cassette infinity radio, with the slave cd player that works great, it gets 20-25 mpg city, it has the 6 button computer, and the 140mph cluster w/ the turbo boost gauge. it has the rare options, plus leather seats power everything except antenna. now it has some problems at this price, most minor, the engine leaks oil, i'll probably fix it before i sell it. i think its the valve cover or turbo line. its not burning oil or overheating. brakes are in need of new rotors, it stops fine, but is starting to pulsate. the rotors are rusty and scorn from sitting. the front lower ball joints could use replacing ones loose the other is frozen. the drivers tire rear vibrates bad at higher speeds, i think its the tire, but i have a spare. the car has chrome pt cruiser rims on it. its gray and the top has a couple small cuts in it on the edge,that don't effect anything, car stays dry in the rain. overall its a good car and if i fix it all up i'll be trying to get 2500-3000 for it. i'm sure it would become a t2 at the very least , plus interior would be mint, everything would work, new top, tire etc. and it wouldn't have any problems mechanically . i can get all the parts for it but it will take awhile to find them all.i really don't want to take 6 months or more to get this car up to my standards. if your interested 586-246-6524 is my number, i'm in the detroit area email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) for pictures. also trades for anything also considered but would rather have money chris ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? i have a nice 91 gtc with bad oil pressure, needs an oil pump or rod and main bearings. It runs shifts and steers good, needs brakes and the oil problem fixed. it has 90,000 miles and has all the rare option.
