Subject: RE: SD 40 mile Shelby Lancer and 89 CSX A good friend of mine just bought the Lancer. It's in Lansing Michigan. He's using it as a semi-daily driver. He said he would rather drive it than a new car. Mike Semi daily driver... that is a shame. While I do believe these cars should be driven, when it comes to an original survivor car they shouldn't. *everything is only virgin once*Survivor Vega, Pacer, Gremlin... it isn't the car in question so much, but the fact that something preserved in new condition is a *historic* example of what was and will never be, and once it starts deteriorating... it's gone forever. Anyone notice the factory plastic on the CSX? Looks like the throttle cable is wrapped, too. I believe they have an IROC R/T in factory delivered condition, also. Gesswein was an original Shelby Dealer and they've had the cars since new. I came close to buying one back in 1990 but ended up getting my 86 GLHS instead. I have to admit they are tempting.
