SD> boost gauge

2004-08-14 Thread Colwell82
Has anyone modded a Shelby boost gauge out of a CSX into a daytona? I looked
and the connecting "flanges" are a little different, not to mention some of
the plastic would need to be cut away. I know a lot of people on the list will
get mad about using the numbered car parts for a car they made thousands of,
but it's a little subtle change that I'd like to try.

SD> Boost Gauge

Hello, I have installed a Autometer "Ultra Lite" Boost Gauge in to my Daytona.
I am not sure where to plumb this Boost gauge in?
I have tried to plumb it into the factory Vac/Boost gauge, with no luck. This
need to go somewhere else?

Hiya Jim :)

You need to be reading the pressure on the manifold side of the throttle
body, so find a manifold source and cut the hose and put a plastic T
piece in, then route the hose to the back of the gauge.

Autometers come with sucky (IMO) nylon hardline, if you can get a
thread-on brass hose barb from a hardware store, that would be better
because then you can run regular vac hose to the gauge from the T
section.

You'll know if you tapped into the right place; at idle, the gauge will
read vacuum well below zero, and when you accellerate, it will read
boost (just like the factory gauge).

Theoretically, you could just T off of the line going to the factory
boost gauge anyways, since the factory boost gauge happens to also be
mechanical in nature and reads off a manifold source.
