The Kansas City meeting will occur November 1-2, at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center. We are meeting on the Nov. 1, from 8:30-4:30, and on Nov. 2 from 8:30-12:30. Hello, It has been a busy and productive summer at the IRIS Center. We continue to develop modules, but we have also been working on several other Web site features. These include a new navigation system for locating IRIS resources, the addition of the Film Search Tool, and a revision of the Web Resource Directory. A new user-friendly means of navigating the resource section of the Web site--the IRIS Resource Locator--has just replaced the original search mechanism. This index allows consumers to locate various materials and resources by selecting predetermined topics in three categories: content area (e.g., behavior, RTI), grade level (e.g., grades: 4¬¬-8), and constituent group (e.g., teachers, related services). Once they have selected a topic, consumers can narrow the search by selecting an IRIS resource type (e.g., modules, case studies). You can access this new index by clicking the Resources button on the home page or by clicking the following link: http://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/resources.html. Also making its debut this summer is the Film Search Tool (http://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/PHPmaterials/film/film.html). This searchable film database lists more than 500 movies that include characters with disabilities. Consumers can search by disability category, title, or year of release. Each film is accompanied by a synopsis. A new version of the Web Resource Directory is now available. This directory contains links and brief annotations for each of the over 200 recommended Web sites. The directory is searchable by the type of Web site (e.g., federally sponsored projects, IRIS partners).
