  SUGGESTION:
I have suggestion which will be very useful for software testers. As Sikuli
is based on images, there should be record feature in which testing tool should
capture images itself while recording a particular flow. Because for a tester,
it is very hectic to capture images one by one before or during automating test
cases. It takes lots of time which is not permissible.
This feature is available in another testing tool SeeTest.

Actually this suggestion includes the following features:

  1- record feature
--- (test case steps recording like other automated testing tools)
  2- automatic image capture feature
--- (automatic image capturing and saving while recording test case steps)
  3- replay of recorded workflows

The problem is that we can import java/python scripts inside jar file using
load(jar-file) (great feature btw).
But if those scripts contain some references to images inside the same jar
file, we are not able to get working scripts.
We need to extract the images (e.g. to a shared repository) in order to be
able to ref them using addPathImage.

I think it is kind of silly to do so.

Title:
[request] findAll() should only return the most probable matches

Status in Sikuli:
  In Progress

Bug description:
--- request (based on the primary bug situation)
valuable test information below in comment #5 +

findAll(): most probable means, that only those matches are
returned, whose score differ only slightly from that of the best match
(e.g. max 0.3 or even less). This surely is the expectation of most
  people, when using findAll().

Additionally it might make sense, to implement a findAny(), that
returns ALL matches having a score above the given similarity, because
this might be the expected result in some situations, when using
  findAll() in its current shape.

  -

  1. Sikuli 1.0 rc3
  2. Windows XP SP3 32-bit
  3. Enclosed code loops over all Apply boxes. Once apply has been clicked it
wait for a confirmation box to appear, confirms, waits for the confirmation box
to disappear. The final match does not point to the bitmap.
  4. Required bitmaps attached.

  # setFindFailedResponse(PROMPT)
  setROI(Screen(0))

  applies = findAll(Apply.png)

  for apply in applies:
  click(apply)
  confirm=Doyoureallyw-1.png
  wait(confirm)
  click(Pattern(YesNo.png).targetOffset(-31,-1))
  waitVanish(confirm)

Title:
[request] exists(image, 0) should return immediately even if pattern
  is not found

Status in Sikuli:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
When specifying a short waiting time or 0, the find operation only
makes one search trial and then returns.

But in case of not found, it returns only after the step time, that is
given for repeated searches by the WaitScanRate (3.0 as standard,
which evaluates to a minimum elapse time of 0.3 seconds).

So if you have a very fast positive search of lets say below 0.01
seconds, the FindFailed situation always returns after the elapse time
  (standard 0.3 seconds).

Since exists(image, 0) is mainly used in decision situations,

  * It would be desirable
that even if the search fails, exists() should return latest after the given
wait time, if the search is done faster.
If 0 is given, this should lead to that exists() returns immediately after
completing the search.

Title:
[request] waitVanish/onVanish should run with a default minimum
  similarity near 1.0

Status in Sikuli:
  In Progress

Bug description:
Usually the intention of the user, when using waitVanish/onVanish, is
to wait for a specific image to vanish.

This image usually is matched with a high similarity score (above 0.9
  to 0.95).

If these methods work with the standard similarity of 0.7, the risk is
high, that something is found on the screen, that is not intended, if
the object has already vanished, with the consequence, that the script
  might hang.

The average user might not be aware of this situation, so it is a
convenience to let these methods use e.g. 0.95 as standard.

Currently you have to specify a pattern with similarity set to an
appropriate high value, to avoid these situations.

Bug description:
Sikuli will not start no matter what I do. When I double click the IDE

  doesn't appear.

Running the following command returned the same result listed below:

  sikuli\sikuli-script.jar org.python.util.jython

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/sikuli/+bug/702797/comments/5

I then uninstalled all versions of java (7, 32 and 64 bit) and
reinstalled 32 bit java 6. At this point when I run the command, the
  following is returned:

  [info] Sikuli vision engine loaded.
  [info] Windows utilities loaded.
  [info] VDictProxy loaded.
  Screen(0)[0,0 1600x900] E:Y, T:3.0

However uploading doubleclicking the shortcut sikuli still fails to
run. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of
  Sikuli with no success.

I've also tried running Sikuli with the bat file Sikuli-IDE-w.bat but
  nothing happens after.

  I'm running Sikuli 1.0 rc3 (r905) on windows 7 professional 64 bit.

Bug description:
  This is for the 1.0rc2
I was working with a large script automating some installation at some point
of deleting lines and adding new captures my tests started to fail, sikuli
couldn't find an image capture, i redid it many times thinking it was another
problem and it just never could find that image, i went to the .sikuli folder
and the supposedly missing images where there but for some weird reason sikuli
was trying to find them on my temp folder inside documents and settings(windows
xp) why?
I think its related to naming, because at the beggining some ocr named the
png files with related info but then sikuli just stared using long numbers
thats when the problem began.
Its so frustrating working for an hour on a script just so i can't find the
images i'm using..
  attached the problematic file.

Any ideas to create safe files? maybe i should take the screenshots
myself and use the insert image function maybe?

  tested on Win7 (32Bit and 64Bit)

A mmc window blocks any Java robot actions (this is the Java feature
internally used to simulate the mouse actions), as long as the mmc
  window has focus.

This is the fact, no matter how you manage to get a mmc-window to the
  front.

So it is not possible to click() inside of an mmc window. It is even
not possible to move the mouse, as long as mmc has focus.

Working on a set of tests that function x-platform using Sikuli-1.0 RC2.
Currently I divide my search images by os (Images, Images_win, Images_osx,
Images_lin), and depending on the platform specify Images, and Images_plat as
my search directories.

What would be super useful would be that instead of Pattern(file.png)
searching for only a specific file, if you could specify a directory
name Pattern(some_image_dir) which Sikuli would search for any match
  in that directory.

That would simplify searching images that may vary slightly across OS
versions or states such as selected.

  Ex:

So if I have the directory Images_win in my search path:

  Images_win/button_feedback/button_feedback_xp.png
  Images_win/button_feedback/button_feedback_vista.png
  Images_win/button_feedback/button_feedback_win7.png
  Images_win/button_feedback/feedback.png

In my test case I specify:
   find(Pattern(button_feedback))

Sikuli searches for each image in the directory until it finds a
  match.

Title:
X-1.0rc3: RedHat Linux: (r905) IDE crashes randomly

Status in Sikuli:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Hello,
when I'm using Sikuli IDE it crashes randomly. It could crash if I save the
file, if I click on an image, if I close the application, if I take a
screenshot ...
I'm running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 x64.

I have 2 versions of java on my system :
  - Jdk 1.7.0_03 x64 (Default)
  - jre-6u38-linux-x64

I have an application which absolutely needs Java 7, that's why I have 2
versions.
In order to use Java 6 with Sikuli IDE, I've changed the sikuli-ide.sh script
this way :

  (Line 4) : LC_NUMERIC=C /usr/java/jre1.6.0_38/bin/java -Dsikuli.console=true
-Dsikuli.debug=0 -Xms64M -Xmx512M -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -jar
$DIR/sikuli-ide.jar $*

I attached the java crash report. Please let me know if you need more
information.

  Linux System Always Uses Screen(0)

Status in Sikuli:
  In Progress

Bug description:
I am using Sikuli version 1.0rc3 compiled from source on a Redhat EL4
system. I have a 3 monitor setup running X11R7.1.1 and it appears
that Sikuli maps all operations to screen 0 i.e. DISPLAY :0.0. The
getNumberScreens() method returns 3 as expected, and instantiating
screen objects for Screen(0), Screen(1), and Screen(2) appear to work.
Trying to use the screen objects to invoke click(), find(), etc.
always result in an operation on screen(0) only. If I print the
screen objects all 3 return the following:

  Screen(0)[0,0 1920x1200] E:Y, T:3.0

So, does this version of Sikuli support a multi-monitor Linux setup
and if yes, what could I be doing wrong?

  Thanks...

it is not finding it when trying with a different platform. yet when
verifying with an assert it passes. If started with capturing the
text image using mac, then re-running the test on windows it fails.

  sample code.
assert exists(some image of the text)
  click(some image of the text)

if I have those code written (and image captured on a mac), it runs
perfectly on a mac; but when running the same code on windows it
  fails.

Is there a way to click on a text (knowing that mac and windows may
have different behavior on displaying fonts). I am not planning to do
any cutpaste but basically just click on a text.

When I try to take a screenshot, run sikuli script or use Matching
Preview in a specific dialog, part of this dialog gets black.

If I move the dialog this won't happen anymore, so I can still run my
script just dragging and dropping my dialog before performing my
  actions on this dialog.

It is the first time I see it and it only happens with this dialog.

I'm running Sikuli X-1.0rc2 x86_64, on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Server release 6.1 (Santiago) through a VNC session. (Sikuli
installation and my VNC server are on this machine)

I'm not sure how to reproduce this bug since it is the only situation
that I can see this happening.

I've already tried in a new VNC session but the same problem happened.

requires Accessibility API exception pops up a blocking dialog with
  -s command line option

Status in Sikuli:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  MacOS 10.6
  Sikuli IDE 1.0rc2

  The error:

[error] getFocusedWindow requires Accessibility API to be enabled!

Even when running sikuli-ide.sh -s -r my-script, this pops up an
interactive dialog offering to open system preferences to enable
Accessibility. The function getFocusedWindow (or App.window()) returns
None after clicking No in the dialog.

It should just return None when -s command line option is specified.
The script may be recorded on a machine with Accessibility enabled and
played back with Accessibility disabled, under an automated test
runner that should under no circumstances block execution indefinitely
-- that's the whole purpose of the -s command line option.

If it's desirable to have the option to retain the interactive
behavior in some situations even with -s, perhaps a Settings option
could be helpful, but by default it should just return None and let
the calling code deal with it, possibly failing the test, which is a
  perfectly valid outcome with -s.

I get a bunch of symbols - here is an example: 攢ðœŋ - this happens

I do not think this is Windows issue since all other applications are
OK, only Sikuli IDE seems to be affected...

The only way to reset things to normal is to quit IDE and restart it
  again.

Why does this happen and how to prevent it??

Title:
X-1.0rc2: IDE: Windows: open/save dialog should be revised

Status in Sikuli:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
The handling in the IDE open/save dialog is not always as expected
(mouse and keyboard usage) and not userfriendly (crashes in some
situations, does something else than expected, ...).

This might be because the dialog is based on directories and not on
  files.

  These are currently reported bugs:
  bug 777658: Open/Save failure with a non-Sikuli folder
bug 735305: open dialog - enter does not step into folder
bug 581739: open-file-dialogue - tries to open non Sikuli folders/files

JVM crashes for multiple sikuli script on same machine

Status in Sikuli:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

I have a sikuli script (written in Java converted to Jar). I am able to run
the script on a standalone machine (single instance).
Logged in as another user, I copied the jar to other user home directory and
tried to run the same script. It runs fine.

Now with 2 different sessions (putty session on different machines), I
tried to run the same script on both sessions simultaneously. When I
run the script on the second session, the JVM crashes on the first
  session, and vice-versa.

The crash displayed is as follows:

Once I launch the batch file, in both computers I got a message in a console
window saying:
  redirect stdout/stderr to console
and then the program quits everytime.

Both windows 7 installations are Windows 7 Professional in Spanish and both
have Java 6 update 19 installed on them.
Running Sikuli in (English) Windows XP Mode inside any of both computers runs
just fine.

I consistently get a crash trying to match a particular Target image
against a particular desktop state. The error is always at
[kernel32.dll+0x12afb] in native code and ScreenMatchProxy.screenMatch
in Java code. I will attach the image and desktop that I am attempting
  to match.

I worked around it by changing the target image I was matching.

This looks as if it could be related to other windows crashes, but I
didn't find one with an identical stack trace, although #516011
Keeping crash under win7 64bit looks similar.

KUbuntu 9.10 class not found error: VDictProxy, TYPE command fails

Status in Sikuli:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
When I run Sikuli on KUbuntu 9.10, I get this error when using the
  type command:

Could not initialize class edu.mit.csail.uid.VDictProxy then a java
  stack trace (see below).

At first I thought the manifest file did not point to sikuli-
scripts.jar (which contains VDictProxy) so I added a classpath line to
the sikuli-ide.sh file. Even though the MANIFEST.MF contains a
  reference to the JAR file.

  Still get the same error.

My next step would be to try and rebuild the sikuli-scripts.jar file,
but I suspect the problem is in the instantiation of the class and the
problem is not really a Not Found error as the stack trace suggests,
but the error message conflicts with.

Title:
run() seems to only accept [0-9a-zA-Z/-_] and special chars are quoted

Status in Sikuli:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Sik099, OS X 10.6

The new run() command does not work as expected. seems to only accept
  [0-9a-zA-Z/-_.].

Interpreting the example at the end, it seems that you quote any
sequence of non-[0-9a-zA-Z/-_.] characters. This leads to a very
  limited usability of run().

  Using following script:
cmd = # an input for the command line
  print  run()
  print run(cmd)

  print \n os.popen()
  import os
  aus = os.popen(cmd)
  for z in aus:
 print z.strip()

  case: cmd = ls -l Aperture.app
--- same result for both commands

  case: cmd = ls -l Aperture.ap*
  --- run() empty, popen() OK

case cmd = ps -A | grep Sikuli
  --- run() empty, popen() OK

The following 2 examples are interesting, as they accept non-[0-9a-zA-Z/-_]
characters, but the handling is not as expected:
(the applescript test.scpt returns hello + the first command line parameter )

  case: cmd = osascript test.scpt \*|#\
   run()
hello *|# seems the are double quoted
   os.popen()
  hello *|#

  case: cmd = osascript test.scpt *|#
   run()
hello *|#can only run correctly when *|# is getting quoted by run()
   os.popen()
empty which is correct, since this command must fail with a syntax error

Unable to dragDrop from host to VMware Fusion VM (timing)

Status in Sikuli:

Bug description:
Dragging and dropping on the host machine appears to work fine.
However, if I try to drag from a VMware virtual machine window to the
host desktop, the dragDrop command does not appear to execute
successfully. Something about the clicking mechanism in the dragDrop
method does not work in the virtual machine window. However, regular
click() commands appear to work fine.

  Occurred on:
  - iMac 2.8GHz Core2Duo host running Mac OS X 10.6.2
  - Sikuli 0.9.8
  - VMware Fusion (2.0.6) virtual machine running WinXP guest OS

  Steps to repro:
  - Launch VMware Fusion virtual machine
  - Launch Sikuli
  - Create new Sikuli script
  - Enter dragDrop() command with image references as follows:
 - dragDrop(image reference in guest, image reference on host)
