TestMechanic proposed the following answer:
You need to provide enough resources for:
-- OS
-- Sikuli (actually java app that are not light one)
-- Application under test - not sure what you are testing but if it is Chrome
for example it is not light as well

In my experience: I was able to run smoothly tests with 2xCPU and 2GB
ram minimum. Also you can reduce UI resolution to minimal for your AUT.

HW, host:
- cpu has two cores, it is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz
- ram: 4 GB
- Vt-x available, no vt-d/iommu
- os: centos7, KVM installed

VM:
- 2GB of ram
- one vcpu
- os: win7, not sp1, added virtio drivers for storage, network
- java: jdk-16
- sikulixide-2.0.5.jar

When running SikuliX in above VM, htop in centos says:
- around 35% cpu usage (two cores, 2x100%, max would be 200%) while idle and
waiting for commands
- 80-100% when running 10 step "click(Lcation(...))" macro

My goal is to minimize VM requirements, still having sikuli working.
Then I could duplicate VMs to run them in parallel.

[Sikuli-driver] [Question #696667]: Minimal VM

2021-04-21 Thread john novak
New question #696667 on SikuliX:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sikuli/+question/696667

Hi,

I wonder what was the most minimalist VM that you were able to run SikuliX,
incl. java and desktop screen?
In my case i got it working on win7 (not sp1) on KVM/centos7, >10y old thinkpad.
Failed with Lubuntu, didn't work well, Sikuli window was all yellow, not
starting, looked like malfunctioning.

Now I'm looking for something that would be same size or more lightweight
(cpu) than mentioned win7.

I would like to get all your opinions on this.

Have a nice day,
J.
