Years ago Daddybob told the story of his very smelly dog; when DB fed
the dog the surplus coconut oil after frying his eggs, the dog became
bearable to be near, but when the coconut oil stopped, the smell started
again.
Coconut oil is now being marketed, at least here in Australia, in a form
for pets, which contains a higher proportion of the brown (skin)
fragments that tend to settle eventually in the bottom of the jar (and
is extremely rich in certain nutrients). Apart from its health benefits,
it works as a pet deodorant. And the health benefits are startling.
www.kokonutpacific.com.au has a page of information on this.
I seem to recall that Oriental nations find Westerners unpleasantly
odoriferous, and blame the kind of food they consume. Whether that is
so or not, I found that when I started using coconut oil my body odour
changed, and more so when I substituted coconut milk or cream for dairy
products. No more stink. Then whenever I bought dairy cream or milk
and used that instead of coconut, back came the "western underarm" odour.
Just to check what others were saying, I entered a search string "dairy
food body odour" in Google.
http://searchwarp.com/swa242467.htm said: There are two general causes
to an excess, offensive and or pervading sour smell body odor,
breath. One is *dairy,* especially milk, yogurt and cheese. The other
is the* stomach*.
Milk, yogurt and cheese are foods are sour foods. The digestion and or
deterioration of milk yogurt, etc. tends to produce a sour smell, body
odor, especially when eaten to excess. There are many cultures,
countries that eat little or no dairy, unlike Americans.
Those that consume milk, yogurt and cheese regularly, daily tend to have
a sour smell, body odor, breath if their digestion is poor, weak.
Other sites were saying similar stuff. One said that "too much" dairy
was at fault; my experience tends more to say "hardly any".
Then when I added "underarm" to the search string, the comments got far
more specific...

very economical--and even smells nice! dee

Dorothy,
I rarely use deodorants, but Berts Bees makes a very effective one that's
herbal in nature.
