CSVortex Made Easy
Hello CS'ers and would-be Vortexers. I just got an Edmund Scientific catalogue in the mail today and discovered that they have the plastic vortex tubes on page 48. They call them Tornado Tubes: Package of two Tornado Tubes(tm) #Q37-592 $4.95 Package of ten Tornado Tubes(tm) #Q53-642 $18.95 They also have: Tornado Tube(tm) 'complete kit' #Q52-916 $7.95 Apparently this is the Tornado Tube(tm) and two bottles that appear in the picture to be about 1 liter size or so. Tornado Tube url: http://www.edmundscientific.com/Products/Search.cfm?query=Tornado+Tubes The on-line version of this catalogue can be found at: www.scientificsonline.com I also discovered that if a 1.5 or 2 liter water/soda bottle top is cut off about 3/8 to 1/2 below where the curved shoulder meets the straight wall, the top section makes an okey-dokey vortex funnel. Just slap the magnets on the sides of the funnel and pour the liquid along the side wall so the stream starts to travel down the wall clockwise. With practice, you can learn to pour heavily to get the vortex going and then back off a bit to just maintain the largest stable vortex you can. Wong- don't tell me you can't get this one to work! tsk tsk. Yeah, Chuck. Then enlarged hole to 1/2 swirled and water still wouldn't come out. I loosened the cap to get air and water flowed but no vortex. I'm just going to do it with a funnel several times to make sure there's a good vortex. Can't find Lew's cognac bottles so far. And David. Don't need your message in a bottle. Re: CSVortex made easy
Hi Wong, You wrote: Wouldn't just swirling water in a coke bottle to create a vortex...or it's just to pass by the magnets? I use swan-necked bottles labelled N and S to make magnetized water and I use either one to create a vortex. A Cognac Otard 0.7 litre bottle has a long and slender neck with a pulp stopper. The Cognac Otard bottle comes in two colours: Transparent and Deep Green. I rather you choose the transparent one. My buddies gave me a carton of Cognac Otard bottles- empty ones ! See if you can get a pair of this type If you have a N and a S magnet and two slender neck bottles with over-hanging lips like that of the Cognac Otard bottle, you are on to create a turbulent vortex. Firstly, fix the magnets 3'' above the broadest part of the bottle. I usually fill the bottle with distilled water leaving the upper two and a half inches empty. I add a teaspoonful of colloidal minerals to the bottle of distilled water. I leave it for 10 minutes for revitalization while I get ready the other bottle. You will notice that the circular borders of the bottle's mouth overhang the slender neck of the bottle by 1/2 . So when you invert the filled bottle with fixed magnets over the waiting, empty bottle and the two properly aligned and balanced, what you see is something looking very much like an elongated hourglass. You will see Nature's forces at work creating a vortex of churning water above and water rushing pass the magnets to splash into the receptacle bottle below. Honestly, I do not know which direction I must swirl because I am living near the equator. I just simply make a swirling motion a few times and down it. I really hope you can get hold of two discarded Cognac Otard bottles for your experiment and use. These shapely bottles make attractive ornaments. There will still be some of the tube left, but now you can see how much more you have to saw/file/chew off to get to where it is almost flat. These caps seem to vary in style and shapes, so that is why I am not being very specific. The main thing is to saw or file it to the point where going any farther will start to open the hole wider. Hi James! The article says to have the magnets on opposite sides of the bottle and with one magnet having it's north pole facing the water while the other magnet has it's south pole facing the water. That is what I did originally. The pepper plants and the strawberry plant seemed to love it. Since some folks magnetize water by placing it on the south pole of a powerful magnet to make south water and also make north water with the north pole, I am now setting up a system to make gallons-at-a-time SOUTH water by having all the south pole of the magnets facing the water. Can't wait to see the results! Hi Robert! The magnets go on the cone-shaped (funnel-shaped?) part of the bottle near the neck. This is where the vortex narrows down to go into the neck and out. At least, that is the way I have mine. I have not seen a setup, just going by what I read in the structured water article.
