[sisuite-users] Grub issue
I have this exact same issue when trying to image a suse10 system. Does any one have a fix for this? Thanks Mahmoud Hanafi Re: GRUB issues From: Jason McCoy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - 2006-11-14 12:22 OK,I have managed to catch some more errors thanks to the scroll lock key ;-) That "I have been done for x seconds" message is a pain when trying to debug. [sisuite-users] Imaging issues with RH ES 4
Using UYOK and 3.7.6 I successfully imaged and loaded a RHES 4 machine(DL380G4) without any major issues. I did however run into pronlems when subsequently attemping to install an rpm(see below for error). I tracked the error to a getxattr call for security.selinux. Disabling selinux avoids the problem but doesn't correct it. I'm now guessing but does the fact that I imaged and loaded the system from a systemimager server running on RHES 3 without user_xattr on the filesystem have something to do with it ? Anyone else run into this ? Can I "fix" my imaged system somehow ? [sisuite-users] UYOK and ia64??? (more cannot stat /dev/sda stuff)
Hi folks. OK, I got a little farther-- found out that the "console=ttyS0" line in the elilo.conf file needs to be changed to "console=ttyS3" for 2.6 kernels and network booting. Found this buried in some HP forum somewhere. ANYWAY, after a bit more progress, I am now yet another person having the infamous "cannot stat /dev/sda" error. As I have learned, it appears that the boel binary just isn't loading the mptscsi and/or mptscsih drivers. How annoying. BUT-- this shouldn't be an issue, because we have this cool UYOK stuff, right? Just copy the files created in the si_prepareclient process to the /tftpboot directory environment on the boot server. This has huge potential to solve all these stupid driver problems... Um, no. When I try that, I get: TFTP. ELILO boot: elilo.c(line 77):Cannot find a loader for ia64/standard/kernel Could this have anything to do with the "I can't determine your kernel" message I get when running si_prepareclient?In that case, I'm supposed to use "-kernel= filename" but I have no idea WHAT filename I'm supposed to supply there??? I also went the other direction, and tried adding "insmod" commands into the INSMOD_COMMANDS file in the "my_modules" directory (client) to get the boel binaries to load the drivers. Dead end there too, as I get stuck (and hung) here: Loading cmd64x... ACPI: PCI Interrupt :00:02.0[A] -> GSI 21 (level, low) -> IRQ 57 CMD649: chipset revision 2 CMD649: 100% native mode on irq 57 ide0: BM-DMA at 0x0d40-0x0d47, BIOS settings: hda:pio, hdb:pio ide1: BM-DMA at 0x0d48-0x0d4f, BIOS settings: hdc:pio, hdd:pio hda: DV-28E-C, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive ide0 at 0xd58-0xd5f,0xd66 on irq 57 hda: ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM drive, 256kB Cache, UDMA(33) Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 Fusion MPT base driver 3.03.07 done! Loading mptscsih... Copyright (c) 1999-2005 LSI Logic Corporation <== hangs here--- no progress. So, I guess what I'm looking for is a followup to the previous discussion a week or so ago--- regarding UYOK-and just what people are supposed to put for the "-kernel=" parameter for si_prepareclient? That question was raised before, and I can't seem to find it ever answered. This is my apparent last hope- as nothing I have tried so far lets me mount my disks. Boo! - Kent C. [sisuite-users] how to skipping disk
Hi all, After reading all man pages I still can't understand how to skip a disk from being reformatted during image installation. --exclude option of si_prepareclient seems to only stop it from repartitioning hard drive. I have several disks on the client - sda sdb and sdc. I want all data on sdb sdc to be persistent during image installation, but I can't figure it out how to do this. Of course, I can edit manually autoinstallscript, but may be there is another solution? Is it only possible to forbid systemimager to put some data into image, like /home directory (which I assume to be persistent) by -exclude option of si_getimage? - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. [sisuite-users] Success!
I got SystemImager to compile correctly! Thanks a lot, guys! If anyone's interested, here's a howto for compiling SystemImager in Ubuntu Edgy Eft: http://indianalinux.blogspot.com/2007/02/howto-install-systemimager-from-source.html I'll play around with getting it to work next week, probably. Again, thanks a lot for your time and patience! Have a beautiful day! Simón - Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
