The issue with your solution is that the resulting tarball will be named systemimager-4.2.0.tar.bz2 which is incorrect/misleading. Also, this is a RPM-specific thing and will not work with Debian packages. I will be happy to incorporate any patches you can provide which facilitate the snapshot building process. Right now, I just have 4.1.99.svn4555_bli in the VERSION file and everything is correctly set. hi Bernard, I'll try to test your rpms this afternoon. As for the rpm versionning, why don't you set the version to 4.2.0 and the release to 0.1svn4555-bli ? As 0.* is <1, when 4.2.0-1 will be out, it'll get updated. This is the trick used by Mandriva Linux and it is very convenient. for example, when I build my systemimager rpms, I do the following: systemimager-server-4.2.0-0.2svn5510.el5 systemimager-flamethrower-4.2.0-0.2svn5510.el5 systemimager-x86_64initrd_template-4.2.0-0.2svn5510.el5 systemimager-x86_64boot-standard-4.2.0-0.2svn5510.el5 systemimager-bittorrent-4.2.0-0.2svn5510.el5 systemimager-common-4.2.0-0.2svn5510.el5 systemimager-client-4.2.0-0.2svn5510.el5 0.2 means it's the second revision of the spec file for this particular systemimager snapshot.
