/usr/share/texmf/bin is in root's $PATH if you logged in directly
as root or used "su -" to load root's environment.

Re: [Slackbuilds-users] AUCTeX fails at configure step: Can't find LaTeX!

2009-09-16 Thread Joel J. Adamson
Hi,

Since trying to ./configure auctex straight out of the source tree (which fails
with the same error), this may be a problem better addressed to the AucTeX
developers. I was concerned that this might be a Slackware-specific problem.

Thanks for any hints,

Joel

put "/usr/share/texmf/bin" in your path as root

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/share/texmf/bin

then run the buildscript

[Slackbuilds-users] AUCTeX fails at configure step: Can't find LaTeX!

2009-09-16 Thread Joel J. Adamson
Hello,

I have two Slackware 13.0 installations, and have TeXLive 2008 on my
workstation and teTeX installed on a laptop. I have had no problems
installing AUCTeX on the workstation, but on the laptop the
installation fails at the configure step checking for LaTeX. latex is
in /usr/bin (in my user and root PATHs), and so 'whereis latex ' returns

latex: /usr/bin/latex /usr/X11R6/bin/latex /usr/bin/X11/latex
/usr/X11/bin/latex /usr/man/man1/latex.1 /usr/man/man1/latex.pdf
/usr/share/man/man1/latex.1 /usr/share/man/man1/latex.pdf
/usr/X11/man/man1/latex.1 /usr/X11/man/man1/latex.pdf

as it should.

I used to have this problem when installing R, and corrected it by
putting /usr/share/texmf/bin in root's PATH. However, since removing
teTeX and installing TeXLive, I have had no problems.

How does configure check for LaTeX?

Thanks,

Joel

[Slackbuilds-users] Cannot Build OpenOffice.org-3.1.1

2009-09-16 Thread Rich Shepard

I used the SlackBuild script to build/upgrade OpenOffice.org-3.0.0. Today
I tried to build the -3.1.1 release, but it fails:

opt/openoffice.org3

opt/openoffice.org3
opt/openoffice.org3/program
opt/openoffice.org3/program/swriter

mv: cannot stat `usr': No such file or directory

I've no idea of the parent directory, and adding usr/ directories in
/opt/openoffice.org3 hasn't helped.

Please provide a suggestion or two on what I can do.

Interestingly enough, I'm able to invoke the application as root today,
but not as a user. That's never before happened.

TIA,
