Re: [SLUG] dumb question

What version of Samba are you using? Do the workstations have an account
in the samba server?
Is the samba server a member of the domain or the DC?

Good Afternoon,
I'm having a brain fade.
I'm setting up a samba server. Done this a couple of times.
All works. Can connect from cmd line with smbclient, and from windows
Win2000 and XP-Pro useing make a connection.

What I cann't do is see the server in the network neighbourhood.
wins support is configure in the smb.conf.
nmblookup eserver
works, both from the samba server, and a seperate linux machine.
I've added the samba server as a wins server in both win2000 and XP-Pro.
Ideas greatfully recieved.
Regards,
Ashley

Re: [SLUG] dumb question

2004-07-25 Thread O Plameras
Hi Ashley,
This is due to a 'Network Redirector' driver software on your
Win2000/XP-Pro.
Ensure that your Service Pack for Win2000/XP-Pro is current. I believe the
minimum required for:

Win2000 is SP4(Jun 03)
WinXP is SP1a(Feb 03) has an update ?
To determine: Right-click 'My Computer' and choose 'Properties'.
Have fun.

Um, think you missed a bit there ... The output of commands isn't

Sorry, that's what I just said... The history command is just a front
end to that file. That still doesn't show the output of previous commands.

I just had a look at http://images.google.com and there are several
icons that could be edited to provide the on-hook and off-hook. Just
pick one that has the handset part separate enough from the phone body
and use the gimp to create a copy of that but with the handset 'taken off'.

e.g.

Grab the phone and handset image and manipulate in the gimp to create
your own on and off version.

Open it in wordpad.exe instead. That will show the file OK.
Alternatively in Linux use the utility 'todos' and/or 'fromdos' to
convert to the format that DOS expects (carriage return + linefeed at
end of each line instead of the unix linefeed only [me thinks thats the
way around]).

tofrodos - Converts text files between DOS and Unix formats.

RE: [SLUG] looking at vi file in wordpad

2004-07-25 Thread Rowling, Jill
Rename the file to something.doc
This will force it to be opened with Word.
Word will then prompt the user as to how they want to interpret the
newlines: as wraparounds or as newlines.
Alternatively use dos2unix or unix2dos to convert the newlines to the
appropriate characters.

2004-07-25 Thread Michael Lake
It might be stealing or it might not be. I'd be up for 'inducing' Ken to
commit copyright violations if the Induce act applied here.
The images might be in the public domain or they might not be.
Its up to Ken to decide what to do with the icons. For instance if he
traced the outlines and refilled the icons with a different colour they
would be pretty much a different icon. Or he might even email the site
and ask permission to use them. That would really shock them as they
might have even 'purloined' them themselves :-)

why not use vim?
