Nope, didn't fix it. > If that doesn't work, make sure ~/Desktop exists. It does. However, in the preferences section you mentioned, there was a show_desktop item. Unticking that fixed the problem. So thanks Jeremy for a nudge in the right direction. Re: [SLUG] endless packets from my wireless router
I get these all the time as well since I switched to a netgear wpn824v2 for wifi. Seems to be a normal part of the wifi's operation. It does get annoying sometimes as it tends to clutter up packet captures; unfortunately wireshark doesn't accept a capture filter of "not llc" (it only works as a display filter), so I tend to use "ip or arp". As for stopping the router spamming these in the first place, not sure. I've tried messing around with the atheros chipset settings in the telnet console, but haven't found anything. It may be related to the non-standard "XR" (extended range) feature of the router. Re: [SLUG] Aus based web hosting?
Sydney Web Hosting has such http://sydneyweb.net./ Geoffrey is a TAFE teacher, teaches Linux and is very helpful, lives in Marrickville, member of SLUG. See website for prices but I think it is $100 per year. Lisa has her sites there. [SLUG] Gutsy/Gnome, too much crapon the desktop
Hi all, I'm recently upgraded my desktop from Feisty to Gutsy and now find that Gnome wants to put an icon on the desktop for every file and directory in $HOME. Now like many people, I havd a huge amount of crap in my $HOME, so I'd like to turn off this feature completely. I've looked in the menus, but can't find anything. Anyone able to whack me with a cluebat? [SLUG] endless packets from my wireless router
Hi, can anyone explain what these packets coming from my wireless router are? These are the lines from tshark: 0.00 Netgear_a0:1a:fc -> IntelCor_80:3f:54 LLC I, N(R)=0, N(S)=0; DSAP NULL LSAP Individual, SSAP NULL LSAP Command and from tcpdump: 12:23:12.489965 00:14:6c:a0:1a:fc (oui Unknown) > 00:12:f0:80:3f:54 (oui Unknown) Null Information, send seq 0, rcv seq 0, Flags [Command], length 1476 The data payload is all zeros. Any ideas why I'm getting 4.8kB/s continuous incoming, with zero outgoing packets, would be appreciated.
