Hey Kevin,

The tool you want is 'rename'. It lets you rename a set of files using a
PCRE to determine the new file name. For example, to do what you've
suggested you could use something like this:

rename 's/^proj1//' *

The manual page has some other useful examples.

HTH,

James.

I'm sure this came through SLUG maybe 2000 or 2001. IIRC it takes a few
resistors soldered in the backshell. You'll need to get 1/4 W metal
resistors (blue body) and some spaghetti tube to do this neatly and
safely if you want to fit the backshell back on.

I wouldn't trust any company offering truly unlimited plans - except
Internode, who offer Business 256, 512 and 1.5Mbps plans with
unrestricted download and capped excess charges - but you're not going
to want to pay that much.

If you want cheap and lots of data, TPG is probably worth a shot. If
you're on an iiNet exchange they're reasonably good value.

Depending on what you're downloading, iiNet and Internode both have
large mirrors of free content. Internode has the largest free content
mirror I know of.

I use iiNet on the 40Gpeak/40G off peak ADSL2+ plan and I synch at
about 14Mbps so I can download my quota in < 2 days :-(

As has been suggested, Whirlpool is the place to go for information.
You may find the results of the most recent yearly survey interesting:

[SLUG] Sun video connector

2007-11-02 Thread Sergio Monteiro
Hi there.

I wonder if there is anyone there that is familiar with the Sun computer
video connector.

I have an old Sun on which I installed Linux and a standard PC which runs
windows. I can run both on the same monitor that I have which sports two
inputs. I can toggle between them. I still will need two keyboards and mice,
but that is small and easy.

The problem is that the Sun has that special connector, though the monitor
is VGA. I found several adaptors in eBay but the first vendor warns that each
Sun monitor output is different and that if I use the wrong adaptor I can burn
the video card, or the monitor, or the computer - and I wonder if I could
bring down the whole power grid too!

Is it true? Are the contacts different from one Sun model to another, or
all Sun video connectors are the same? Do I need a specific adaptor?

  Thanks,

  Sergio

Unlimited and unshaped -- you're dreaming.

I think ADSL2+ is cheaper than ADSL because the ISPs opt to install their own
DSLAM on top of Telstra stuff.

They are very uncompetitive plans. I don't know how they can do business at
those rates. Must be some guy doing it as a hobby.

The mainstream ISPs I'm aware of are TPG, Telstra Bigpond, Optus Cable and
iinet.

IMO stick with mainstream. They're cheaper.

I use TPG ADSL2+.

I'm about 5-8 kms from a DSLAM, so I get about 2 mbits out of the theoretical
20 mbit speed.

For $59.99 you get 50 gigs (30 gb peak, 20 gb offpeak). No game servers, no
mirrors. Shaped to 64 kbits.

For $69.99 you get 150 gigs (40 gb peak, 110 gb offpeak).

I'm on an old plan ($59.99, 30 gb, shaped 128 kbits). I prefer staying on this
as I need faster shaped speeds. And all my internet usage is during peak hours
anyway.
