No problem at all - that's my bad. I was looking at the list archives for February and forgot about March. While I'm here, I'll get a few other things accomplished: I'l second both Sridhar and Melissa for the positions of President and Secretary respectively. I'd like to withdraw my seconding of Melissa. I cannot in good conscience support a candidate for secretary who, even before being elected, is trying to have members removed from the association on the basis of (as far as I know) a single ambiguous action on IRC. To be clear: I'm not saying that I feel that fanny-patting is appropriate - for either meaning of fanny, regardless of whether it's AFK or in IRC. I'm saying that I don't believe Melissa's response has been proportionate. I appreciate the need for an inclusive, diverse community, but I don't believe that knee-jerk exclusions (or even vague threats thereof) advance this goal. Okay, since you twisted my arm I must accept :) Ken Wilson has never done anything less than a stellar job as Treasurer. I'd like to nominate him for the same role again, if he's willing to shoulder this burden yet again. [SLUG] Re: network-manager-0.7 and 3G Huawei E180 USB stick on Three Network
Well I didn't find where to look at the logs but I did find out some very useful things. 1) After you setup with network manager you can just manually run wvdial from a terminal and it works and you get to see everything I was talking about. 2) It *IS* possible to insert the SIM into the device incorrectly. This results in every attempt to DIAL returning ERROR in a terminal program such as minicom using device /dev/ttyUSB0 for example. IE ATDT*99# = ERROR. 3) The Windows software gives you more explanation of ERROR - in our case something to the effect of Error reading USIM card. Oh yeah an to spite claims to the contrary, the one we got we had to use the Install CDROM. This is because Windows XP wouldn't see the emulated CDROM - Ubuntu does but then the software on it's useless ;-) 4) Even before the software has been told to connect you see blue LED flashes indicating network availability (Windows Linux), ONLY when the SIM is inserted correctly. Grant Parnell wrote: 0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1.8.10.2 network management framework daemon I'm missing something... I wanted to find out how to monitor what NetworkManager's doing on Ubuntu 8.10. Reason is we've just got a new 3G USB stick for the Three network. Model is E180. NetworkManager brilliantly detected the device and I went through the wizard to setup and select the provider... all good. It *looks* like we aren't getting a signal as we only get the green double flash of the LED. After ringing Three and confirming that the device was activated at their end we didn't really get any further... the usual not a supported OS stuff. About the only thing I haven't tried since the upgrade is running up minicom on /dev/ttyUSB0 again. In the bad old days of dialup analogue modems you could always tail -f /var/log/messages and see all the modem chatter and easily spot the problem. Darnit.. I wanna see the conversation. -- Grant Parnell | Muli Management Pty Ltd | T: 02 9487 3241 | 124 Fox Valley Rd Wahroonga NSW 2076 | -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

Re: [SLUG] Apache reverse proxying with MS
It could well be absolute links within the original site. If the username/pwd screen is coming up from the CRM software then the proxy is working. It probably sends you then directly to http://someotherplace/main.asp; rather than /main.asp or something There is another module for apache that will scan the reply data and re-write those absolute links into a link that will run through the proxy (cant remember what it is at the moment though lol, its something like proxy-rewrite or similar). [SLUG] bugzilla setup
I am trying to get bugzilla3 working on my ubuntu server and it looks awful. Is there a CSS that needs to be installed to make it look nice? Is there a better very simple web based bug tracking that I should be using? Re: [SLUG] bugzilla setup
quote who=Ken Foskey I am trying to get bugzilla3 working on my ubuntu server and it looks awful. Is there a CSS that needs to be installed to make it look nice? GNOME has one of the prettiest and most useful Bugzilla setups around; you might want to check out what they've done to it. Pretty sure it's still on Bugzilla 2.x though. Is there a better very simple web based bug tracking that I should be using? Well, pretty much anything else is simpler and easier than Bugzilla. It was really designed for very big projects with well-understood processes (such as Mozilla, where it was born, and GNOME, where it continues to thrive). Despite its warts, I quite like trac, particularly if you effectively use all of its components (wiki, bug tracker, svn viewer, basic project mgmt, etc). - Jeff -- linux.conf.au 2010: Wellington, NZ http://www.penguinsvisiting.org.nz/ I haven't been this excited since the introduction of devfs. - Mark Rosenstand on upstart-devel list -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

2009/3/10 Ken Foskey fos...@tpg.com.au: Is there a better very simple web based bug tracking that I should be using? I can highly recommend Redmine[0]. It's written in Rails, and is very easy to set up. I've heard people complain about previous versions, but the current release s pretty great - I use it for all of my client projects. Ken Foskey fos...@tpg.com.au writes: I am trying to get bugzilla3 working on my ubuntu server and it looks awful. Is there a CSS that needs to be installed to make it look nice? You can look forward to a lot of customization to make it work more nicely; at least, that is the solution that everyone using a nice BugZilla has taken. Is there a better very simple web based bug tracking that I should be using? Almost certainly. For a single-product or product-family software development project trac, and possibly redmine, are a substantial improvement in providing ticketing, project planning and documentation in a single site. For supporting multiple products to end users Request Tracker is one of the best options available; it makes it possible for end users to interact sanely with the same bug system that your internal staff use, and provides sufficient security to make that sensible. The biggest thing, though, is for you to identify what you actually want to achieve with this. Without knowing that there are some very different options available, and probably only some will help you.
