What you are referring to has more to do with ‘SLUG the legal entity’, rather than the technicalities. SLUG will always exist, whether an independent legal entity, a subordinate of LA, or even officially non-existant. So you are saying that slug.org.au continues. It is just the 'owner' swaps to LCA. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

My 2c on this issue.. As the company that donates the hosting to slug (rusty) we are happy either way. It doesn't bother me to continue hosting, or to stop hosting rusty. Frankly the most effort goes into rusty from slug sysadmins. As a longtime SLUG participant, I would be happy to see the volunteer burden reduced, and a merger with LA seems to make sense. The SLUG identity, mailling list and google juice has some value, that should be preserved (and I am happy to continue to pay in the form of donating hosting). thanks Dave -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
[SLUG] [Offer] Python Tutorials
Good Morning, Many of you (myself included!) don't know Python. I'm doing a Web Technology unit where we'll be learning Python. After many of us [mostly me!] posted links to Python tutorials, our Professor asked us if we'd still like him to make videos. I replied saying that we didn't need new Python videos and that he should send an email out to all students, with this table; Author Series LecturesSlides/Documentation Assignments Difficulty MIT A Gentle Introduction to Programming Using Python on iTunes U http://itunes.apple.com/us/itunes-u/introduction-to-computer-science/id341597455 http://stuff.mit.edu/iap/python/ http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-189-a-gentle-introduction-to-programming-using-python-january-iap-2010/index.htm Beginner Programmer Python Tutorial N/A http://docs.python.org/tutorial/ N/A Average or beginner programmer Python N/A N/A http://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide/NonProgrammers N/A Beginner or non-programmer Google Google's Python Class on YouTube (see sidebar for links) http://code.google.com/edu/languages/google-python-class/index.html See Python Exercises in sidebar Good programmer Hopefully you'll also find this table useful.
