[SLUG] Copying a contacts list.

2013-05-02 Thread William Bennett
So, armed with the information from SLUG, I asked around about transferring
the
contacts list from the old SIM to the replacement.

Received the usual: no, no, no much easier to do it this way...Hey Ho.

I did receive one suggestion that made sense: copy the contacts list to
the phone itself, insert new SIM, transfer copy to new SIM.

Well, it sounds OK. Has anyone any experience? And if so, some directions?

Bill Bennett.

[SLUG] multi file rename matching moved multiple regex pattern matches using shell expansion only

2013-05-02 Thread Kyle
I'm having a bit of trouble renaming some files I have and hoping
someone might help.

I have a bunch of bank statements named

'Statement_<4 digit yr>.pdf'

which I want to rename to

'<4 digit yr>__Statement.pdf'

I can work out the regex, but having trouble figuring out how to feed
this through the shell.

Can you help please?

Kind Regards

Kyle

fwiw, I just came across what seems to be incredibly versatile 'server' app
that could be useful for that:
Servers Ultimate from IceColdApps

It lets you run variety of servers on the Android device itself, I only tried
briefly http, but it includes everything plus a kitchen sink, appears to be
extremely comprehensive
