-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Is anyone on this list familiar with and/or using e17.2.1? I have been using e16 DR17 for some time and it is very fast and works quite well. My only problem is that the newer version which is an upgrade of the recently officially released e17 creates a problem which can only be resolved by removing it completely. The problem is that libembryo0_1.7.6 is trying to install over libembryo1_1.2.0 and is is unable to do so. All the libraries used by e17 are version 1.7.6 and the libraries on the system are all 1.2.0. I have tried going in as root and manually placing the libraries and their links in place and doing an ldconfig but the system still comes up with the same error claiming that it needs libembryo.1.7.6 but libembryo 1.2.0 is installed (which seems strange when I have removed all traces of it! Any clues would be useful Thanks Heracles -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBCAAGBQJRibeJAAoJEJk11efqjIS4xvUH/Rc2VUJsiEioilUGpQvdr7Ux B6eG2q7X+t2WVz4+adXjZu/FfckmBwm22fGa/ugP+RPQ8MhH/++HMt1ENksVjFZI sBGkpGmwMGIuZZyh0QVqgwP+sEAzR43C2nrAthOQVHQHTKJQUTNhXmZzoUC/AuAw Ky39bd0Ee5t3lTKjTGPIpXcSLQT1qUTsA2vU3O9rGjqzqOgCOM8wP5G5t5Ufl/S8 yKLpYKhPhciQ+j1dMmt9vdIhmvdG808jVZKKf6fJ/ArLb9W8qBWh5OImROS/+tSS BWLI6kB754gxYvEK7CfLi4vzpAHRe+aGOm1MndsQNdmW6zZhNbM1gp9/eNAqDTY= =xgma -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

Re: [SLUG] Installing Richcomm PowerManager on Ubuntu-type system
I've not tried with any modern devices but the older UPS's used to toggle the CTS or DTR data line on the serial-port to tell the PC that power was available. The driver would simply watch the pin and when it toggled the software would start taking action. These lines are still made available via the USB driver but it looks like the issue is with the installation section. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
[SLUG] Installing Richcomm PowerManager on Ubuntu-type system
G'day, Has anyone had success installing Richcomm PowerManager USB UPS monitoring software? (It's the software that came with my UPS). The install script assumes a RedHat-type file structure and displays errors on not finding /etc/rc.d/rc.local in my Linux-Mint system; after exiting the subsequent configuration script, it then shows "Init Usb Failed!". This despite the fact that lsusb shows the UPS up as "Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0925:1234 Lakeview Research", and disconnecting/reconnecting the UPS USB cable shows up in dmesg as: [ 7764.788092] usb 2-3: USB disconnect, device number 3 [ 7779.004071] usb 2-3: new low-speed USB device number 4 using ohci_hcd [ 7779.233251] generic-usb 0003:0925:1234.0004: hiddev0,hidraw2: USB HID v1.00 Device [\xffd0\xff89\xff89 UPS USB MON V1.4] on usb-:00:02.0-3/input0 [ 7780.006016] usb 2-3: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbhid while 'richcomm_usb' sets config #1 which all looks OK to my (admittedly untrained) eye. I'm running LMDE 13 x64 KDE. I have tried installing NUT, but it's somewhat beyond me, I'm afraid. Help would be appreciated.
