[SLUG] apt-get issue
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can help with this issue... I have a brand new debain (sarge) install. Whenever I uncomment the lines for the testing repositories I get this error E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room E: Error occured while processing liblablgtksourceview-ocaml (NewVersion1) E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/http.us.debian.org_debian_dists_testing_main_binary-i386_Packages E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. Im at a loss to understand why... I googled this up which told me to add the line APT::Cache-Limit "8388608"; to my /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf This hasn't solved it... Anyone else have any thoughts? [SLUG] Burning .IMG files?
Hey guys, just wondering if there is an app or something 'easy' for a noob like me to burn .img files? I have read about burning/mounting .iso files but I'm unsure if these are the same format as .IMG files. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.. [SLUG] CD Question...
Another noob question (one in which google has given me no answers :( ) I have a Pioneer 109D (dual layer dvd burner), when I try and burn with it, it wont recognise blank CDs/DVDs I put in (keeps telling me to insert a writable disk). It reads ok its just the burning. ;? Any you guys have any experience with one of these beasties or issues around CD/DVD burners such as this? btw I know the disk is ok, as I have another machine with a Pioneer 106 in it and it burns no problems. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

[SLUG] Moving multiple files....
Guys, I have searched google etc but failed to find an answer to this (im pretty sure though I have seen somewhere that it can be done...) I have a heap of photos (sorted by iPhoto) and it does it in multiple directories of year, month, date etc. I have moved the whole photo tree over to my desktop (which runs ubuntu). I was hoping to move all the .jpg's into a single directory if this is possible.. I have tried mv /photos/*.jpg /newphotos -r but of course this dont work :( Would anyone have any suggestions how to do what I wanted to do? Thanks for any help you can provide...
