Hi EveryOne -

It seems a bit soon, but considering December SLUG meeting is a
Gathering on Saturday the 13th rather than the usual last Friday-of-the
month,
Here's an overview of SLUG Talks for the benefit of recent SLUG members and
non-members.

This is a Call for Speakers (specifically for January - and beyond if you're
organising into the early months of next year).

Generally, as well as other events,
SLUG typically holds regular meetings on the *last* Friday of each month.

for hosting SLUG Meetings.

January:Friday, 30 January, 2009.
Open Doors:  18:15
Start:18:30 (18:00 arrival finds SLUGgers chatting on the
Altassian's outer deck)
End:  20:45
Then: Walk  to China-Town for $25 dinner (includes
tea)...lazy-suzan banquet.

Meetings:
General Talk  begins the SLUG Meeting,

Breakwith tea, coffee, bikkies for a gold-coin donation,

InDepth Talk  - runs concurrently with

SLUGlets (newbie and/or loose-format get-together)
in an other room at Altassian.
 *   General discussion about Linux,
free software and open source. Can be - Q&A*

Speakers usually come along on a volunteer basis.

With regards to Speakers and in the spirit of Open Source and sharing,
especially with new-comers and SLUG non-members -
I feel that, respect and general consideration of Speakers would be the norm
from "audience members".

The Speakers are video-taped by permission.

Hi to Everyone and Seasons Greetings from SLUG Committee -

The December SLUG Meeting is a social gathering.

Rather than the usual last Friday of the month,
The December get-together is a Saturday afternoon - Mid December.

 When:   Saturday 13-Dec-08
Time: 1pm onward
Where:  James Squire, Lower Deck -
Where Exactly:  King Street Wharf
 Darling Harbour.

 - behind Lime Street - nearest X-street : Erskine.

Why This Time and Place:  Friends, Partners, Youngsters Welcome :)
Fish'n'Chips and such can be ordered from the Lower Deck foodery.

Booking not applicable to Lower Deck - probably around 40 SLUG people will
be coming-and-going from 1pm onwards.

for the SLUG meeting in January (last Friday).

Where:  on the Darling-Harbour side of Sydney between Wynyard and Town Hall.

In short - rather than a last-friday meeting in December, there's
a gathering on the 13th Dec. in Darling Harbour - Friends, Partners,
Youngsters welcome.

Hi Everyone from Sydney Linux Users Group -

SLUG needs an In Depth speaker for our Speakers slot after the break.

 This is a great opportunity for people who are speaking at
OSDC - or
linux.conf.au  - and
would like to practice with a smaller (and perhaps more friendly) crowd.

Dinner is afterwards - a walk away - SLUG "shouts" dinner to Guest Speakers.

Usually SLUG takes up two round tables for a lazy-suzan banquet.
(vegetarians provided for).

When:   28 November Friday evening
Where:  on the Darling-Harbour side of Sydney between Wynyard and Town Hall.
