Zimbra is working well for us. It is a full groupware suite, which is great if you want that kind of convenience/integration, but probably a tad extreme if you just want a calendar server. It has a very nice Web client (feels almost like a desktop app) and supports a range of open protocols (so you can hook into it with Thunderbird, etc. very easily). If you want something really easy, you could sync to Google Calendar (recognising that you're handing control of your data to Google). -- Bring choice back to your computer. http://www.linux.org.au/linux -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

Re: [SLUG] Calendar Server
Bedework is popular at universities, mainly because it easily deals with multiple calendars per user and talks to everything but Exchange clients (which is squarely in their plans). It may be a bit over-the-top for a small company's needs. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
[SLUG] Calendar Server
Greetings We are looking for a calendar server for a client. They are currently using Thunderbird clients under Win-XP talking to their IMAP server (Dovecot) on a fedora box. For calendaring, they currently use k5en.us WebCalendar - this is used for both calendaring for staff and bookings for resources (rooms and equipment) on a first come first served basis. This application also allows them to look at a composite view of a subset of calendar data (ie "Engineers" or "Managers" or "Rooms" to see what is available and when. We want to switch the calendar function across to Lightning so that they have the ability to create events and to-do's from email but they must keep all of the functionality they currently have. For a calendar srver so far we have tried: A) WebCalendar's php routine icalclient.php B) SoGo C) Really Simple CalDav Store but each of these has a few holes in them. Of all of them, SoGo looks favourite esp. considering that it allows a full web interface for when employees are off site, but according to the developers it currently lacks the ability to book resources (on the to do list) and does not support composite views. Has anyone else been down this path so far with any success? Would appreciate any pointers suggestions etc (short of taxidermy or exchange server!). TIA Nigel. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
Re: [SLUG] Calendar Server?
Last time we looked at the SUN calendar product, it was missing Wednesday's (I'm not joking). TBH, I've never been able to get Zimbra to work correctly for me - it suffers from timezoning and caldav compatibility issues (Evolution won't work against the version I am using, at least). What sort of problems? I'm having some problems responding to meeting requests - the response goes back with a different time than what the request arrived with.
