Cutting and pasting on Linux has two versions.The 'clipboard' and the x 
windows cut.


To use X windows cut and paste simply highlight the text (left click drag) 
and the text will be highlighted.


In the second window middle mouse click will paste the contents of the X 
windows highlight.  (assuming it is not overridden in software somewhere)
