So edit /etc/fonts/fonts.conf (or ~/.fonts.conf) directly. This is assuming your fonts are rendered through fontconfig+Xft. If fonts.conf doesn't seem to change the fonts in question, you might have to describe which particular fonts/programs are affected. -- - Gus -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

I don't have have gnome installed either, just WindowMaker. So I guess gnome-font-properties is not really an option. But thanks anyway. Regards, M. Yes, definitely the native res. Everything else is sharp as, it's just the fonts which give me trouble. Are you running the native res for the LCD in question. ie. native res for most 17" LCD screens is typically 1280x1024... and if you don't run this then you get mixed results on the display. Confirm you are running the correct res. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

[SLUG] Font & Antialiasing problems
Hello everybody. I'm running debian sarge on a PC with a LCD screen. The problem I'm having is that all my fonts look slightly out of focus. I suspect this is due to misadjusted antialiasing. I've googled and came up with mostly antiquated howto's on making X look better. I've tried to tweak XF86config-4 and .fonts.conf but without success. I don't use gnome or kde, I just have a windowmaker desktop. I mostly use the mozilla apps and Openoffice. I'd be grateful for any pointer on how to get the fonts focused (else I'll go blind, I fear...). Thanks in advance!
