 he he, some bot-bait!

Make a link on your main page (or even on every page) and use font tags to
make the text colour the same as the background colour. Or use a 1x1 transparent
gif image instead of text. When a client follows this link (a CGI script
perhaps), it is blocked. Is there some easy way to block apache access on the
 fly?

Dunno.

Years back I ran into a spider trap script. It generated
unique URL's each time it was called, so that a dumb spider
would get trapped inside and spin forever. No danger to humans.

[SLUG] Is there a bot-abuse list?

2001-04-10 Thread Terry Collins

I know there is mail-abuse for listing open relay sites.

Is there an equivalent for bad search engine bots?

I currently have three search engines crawling my www and all three
ignore robots.txt. This means that they are determined to index about
40,000 stored Slug, 2600, htdig, etc messages. Two of them are working
at a fair clip as well.

A little Apache add-on that delayed the reply to requests from
particular IPs would be most welcome.

yes, there a RBL apache-module, it works nice if you setup
your own rbl @ localhost, querying in realtime rbl.maps.vix.com
or any other, cost traffic/time.

http://www.blars.org/mod_access_rbl.html

 README -
This module, intended for use with the Apache HTTP server,
is based on the module mod_access and is distributed under
the same copyright. See the module source for the copyright
notice.

mod_access_rbl is a superset replacement for mod_access.
mod_access cannot be used at the same time.
