[SLUG] OT: windows xp mpeg-2 decoder
Sorry about the off-topic post, but a member of my household has Stockholm Syndrome and chooses to use M$ products. It transpires that XP doesn't include an MPEG-2 decoder as standard. Yes, I know, broken by design. Hi Peter, I believe VLC can decode MPEG2 out of the box and is free (as in beer and speech - GPL licensed!). It can be downloaded from your local mirror (see second URL below). As a bonus: all the Windows video stuff should now be much closer to being on par with Linux for ease of use.
