I don't think there's much more productive coming from this thread. Please
take it to slug-chat unless you've got something on-topic to add.

Agreed, Jan but reserving my right to respond on this thread, if there
is something
worth responding.

a) Having been here (SLUG) for a very short period of time - and so feel
like I've got to be careful about what I say, not having any history and
therefore being in the position of fools walk in ...

b) Having little to no (emphasise the last part :) knowledge of much of
the technical side of what is being discussed

c) Having no personal connection to anyone involved
d) Hoping to not attract the ire of ANYONE involved
e) for the sake of attempting some resolution/suggestion for ongoing
positive and lively discussion about a subject that I've little
comprehension of
AND absolutely NOT wishing to intrude on a discussion in which I have
insufficient knowledge to participate NOR wishing to sound like I'm
stifling anyone's wish to continue to discuss this...

Would it be worth a formal debate topic? (He asks before ducking quickly
below the parapet to avoid the cross-fire :))
Does this kind of event occur at SLUG meetings? Could it?

Don't shoot the court jester - every court needs a fool! :)

That'd be rad. We've done debates before. Though, they've usually been
humorous in nature. :-)

Well,
It still could be - I'll be on anyone's team - I was a good debater at
school and Uni (normal people were on school debating teams too!). You
don't need to know anything to be in a debate - look at GWB :)))
