RH tried with up2date, but really it is only a update tool for packages
you have previously installed. it lacks the "apt-get install" like
feature of adding new software to your current install...

are other distros going to use apt or are we going to see more "yapt"s
?!?

I had an important point made to me last time i mentioned the apt vs rpm
debate:

rpm is equivalent to dpkg
RH has no equivalent for apt

ie. you are comparing apples with oranges. 

the real issue is dpkg vs rpm...

Without having read the article, my guess is that it's about
distributions using apt, not comparing .deb and .rpm.  apt supports rpm,
you know, so it's not like it will take too much effort to get everyone
using apt.

apt is a distribution method, and a damn classy wrapper for package
management.

Now i'll go read the article, excuse me if I'm way off track.
