[RCSE] coyote idiots

2000-03-24 Thread max velocity

Well,it looks like the weekend is upon us, though
the the forecast is not looking so promising. Looks like rain. But I understand
there is a small group of "dolts" that have been flying at Coyoteevery
weekend all winter regardless of the rain or wind. Now that's hardcore. Maybe
I'll just join this "bufoon squadron" myself. Just go and punch some holes in
the sky and RELAX.
To Mr. Klissner- No matter which
slope site you choose, I wish you favorable winds, smooth air and big lift.
Peace.

Blue skies,
Max

Robert,

Can you post the panel lengths again, as the first 2 panels total approx 38"
and with the tip it comes to nearly 46". Not really 2M.

Thanks.

Chris

In response to Mario Marzocchi’s post requesting help with triple taper
wing
planform design I have put together a note including the following sample
wings and some web references which may help you understand wing planform
design a little better.

I feel the following two triple taper wing designs are examples of good
planform.

Wing Design - Joe Wurts Eagle AR=13.320 Area=933.60
Suggested Airfoil RG15 (at least a few Eagles were built SD7003)

Root Chord 24.77 cm (9.75")
Root Panel Length 63.0 cm (24.75")
First Break Chord 23.3 cm (9.187")
Mid Panel Length 61.0 cm (24")
Second Break Chord 17.6 cm (6.93")
Tip Panel Length 17.7 (7")
Tip Panel Chord8.66 cm (3.41")

The following 2+ meter span three panel wing is derived from the Joe Wurts
Eagle and has similar lift efficiency and aspect ratio. The tip chord is
slightly larger than it would be if you linearly scaled the Wurts Eagle
Wing. This was done to try to improve handling and tip stall (especially
low
speed/landing) on this smaller wing.

Wing Design Two - AR=13.20 - Smaller Span and Proportionally Larger Tip
Chord
RG15 Root with RG15 Tips

Root Chord 21 cm (8.3")
Root Panel Length 51.79 cm (20")
First Break Chord 20 cm (7.9")
Mid Panel Length 46.58 cm (18.34")
Second Break Chord 15 cm (5.9")
Tip Panel Length 20.7 (8.15")
Tip Panel Chord10.8 cm (4.25")

RG15 is used for Root through Tip.. No geometric washout
(twist) is used on this wing.

If you have not already downloaded a copy of John Hazel’s fine LiftRoll.xls
spreadsheet you should do so. This fine quality free tool helps
evaluate local lift distribution and is valuable when comparing/evaluating
wing planforms.

The following two web resources may help you understand better the process
of designing a wing with good planform and lift efficiency.

2000-03-24 Thread Paul T McKee

I just found out I will be traveling to Warstein, Germany (appx 30min to
Dortmund) at the same time as the Intermodelbau 2000. I'm Arriving on the
11th with my wife and 2 boys to visit my bother and his family. I
definitely plan to attend the show and it would be great to get together
with any from the list who may be attending. Perhaps we can work something
out!

[RCSE] Mojave Phone Booth

2000-03-24 Thread Rudy Siegel

I just stumbled upon a Web oddity, a site devoted to a lonely phone booth
out in the middle of the Mojave Desert. As a Parker Mt. vet, I was curious
if any other Parker types have ever been to, or called the infamous Mojave
phone booth. This could be a Level VI accomplishment. And, if you leave a
Jack-In-The-Box clown head there - you'll get a Level VI, with Oak Leaf
Clusters!

Leave it to Ray to one up me again! I posted a nice note about the Lucky and
he tops it with some other ships, now this! Okay Ray, you can stop!!!

Sure hope that hand of yours works out as well as mine. If its any
consolation, there is one other in the finger club, Bob (aka
[EMAIL PROTECTED]) got his thumb.

One good thing about Rays and mine, we were both high on sailplanes when it
happened!
Again, good luck!

You were flying a sailplane when you cut your finger off with a radial arm
saw!?
Wow. Building and flying at the same time... what is that.. like LSF-10?

[RCSE] PF6

2000-03-24 Thread Blaine Zaid

I just received a Dave Aircraft works PF6 with the
slightly more powerful emg1 geared motor. Looks like
a real great idea,,, semielliptical epp wing created
by using a molded carbon spar that holds the wing in
shape. Anyone flying one yet, any suggestions,,
looks like a lot of fun.. I've been flying Twinstar
and enjoying it for its long duration flights, but
like the idea of a slow flyer to use in front of my
house,,,

[RCSE] DAVES S 1-26 HLGDOESNT WANT TO DIE

2000-03-24 Thread Louis Gonzalez

HI GUYS !:
today, friday i finish working arround noon, then i was relaxing in my
building room looking at my sailplanes hanging from the ceiling...
there it was..my s 1-26 hlg with pieces of covering
missing, the nose in pretty bad shape after houndreds of flights...still had
the servos in.
i had retire it like 5 or six months ago.
i suddenly had an idea.
i took 2 pieces of carbon arrow shaft about 6 inches long and taped one on
each side of the
nose leting like 2 inches protruting to the front of the nose, then a straped
a speed 400 6 volt motor
and 6-3 folding cam prop on top of the arrows giving it a little of down
thrust ,.
i then soldered some 16 gage wires to the motor lead s and extended the to
the top of the wing were i put a speed control,,further back ,on top of the
fusselage i sraped a 7 cel 500 ar pack from my zagi 400 and played with it
to optained the balance at the spar..
my scale reeds 32 oz! i know "very heavy"
but i thout wat the heck!!
i didnt wanted to remove the reciever pack tha was inside the hlgs nose so
proceeded.
all this instalation was done in the outside of the s-1-26 and it took 15
minutes...it looked llike it would never fly
so 15- 20 minutes later im in the flying field..
one of my friend sed "what the hell is that!!!"
just an experiment i sed...
i turn on the tx and gave it full throttlesounded nice...so i gave it a
hard strait throw.
OHH !!WHAT A SURPRISE!
THE S 1-26 HLG STARTED CLIMBING VERY QUIKLY..
i took it up so high i cood bearly distinguish it..
i did loops .,wing overs even flew inverted.
what a fun day...cant wait till tomorrow!
this little hlg that i used to learn to fly just doesnt want to
die

[RCSE] Programming a V-Tail

2000-03-24 Thread Dlflem

Guys,
I'm trying to program my JR388 for my 2M Monarch. Do I program a special mix
(6-2 maybe?) so that the ruddervators will deflect as the ailerons are
actuated?
Is that done by getting to the 6-2 mix, and then programming in a value for
the deflection, both up and down, for both ruddervators in each direction of
aileron throw?

HELP!
