Stan,

I've had luck using a heat gun to raise the depressions on HL and 2m wings. Simply
apply heat to the area sparingly and see if it
raises the depression. May save a bunch of filling and sanding.

[RCSE] Virus alert!

2000-07-04 Thread Patrick Sloan

Sorry for the broad alert. but today with the responses from my questions to
RCSE I received what norton thinks is a virus. It reports it as
"WScript.KakWorm". Norton keeps trying to quarantine my inbox file and I can
not tell which email contained the virus. I use Netscape for mail and as far
as I know there are not many worm type virus that effect Netscape mail. Thanks
for all that responded to my questions I fear that I will have to delete the
mail I received today to stop this virus alert from quarantining my inbox.I
read most of the mail using yahoo mail from my work isp, so I had a chance to
see most the mail.

If you answered one of my questions please take action and check that you are
not infected.

Please note that I was not the originator of the virus, I am just reporting it
as a potential problem for other list members.

Regards

Pat.

hmmm, that'll be Lee Estingoy's post about kevlar.
Coincidently, the same one that Tord complained about getting lots of HTML
garbage in ("lots of info about your regedit.exe, autoexe.bat and other
Windows nonsense")...

look at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/wscript.kakworm.html if
you're interested.
Only affects Outlook Express.

And why cant Mr Weston require the buyer to agree to his terms and
conditions? If the buyer doesnt agree to them, the buyer can walk
away. If the buyer agrees, he must comply. The problem that Mr Weston
will have is that it will cost money to enforce this contract, and he
may find that it is not worth the time and money to enforce it.

I just heard from Frank Weston. Apparently I mis-spoke in my earlier
message here on RCSE. Frank Weston does retain design rights to his
designs. The molds and/or patterns he is selling on eBay are intended for
personal use only. To quote Mr Weston: "If a person buys a mold, all he
gets is the mold and the right to use it for his own non-commercial,
personal sailplanes. . If a person buys a mold and makes models and sells
them and claims they are any way related to WACO, I have lawyers who will
be giving them a call. If I sell an individual design rights, he can
produce and sell as he sees fit, all the sailplane(s) for which he has
purchased rights." . Sorry if I inadvertently mis-lead anyone.

Re: [RCSE] Advantage HLG

2000-07-04 Thread Rodger Hamer

I recently bought the Advantage HLG kit presently being offered by Rick
Brown and Bill Haymaker. I feel a short review would be of interest to all.
It is offered in a number of different variations: Dihedral/Ail version,
Poly version (Precut and beveled panels), 6063 or 7012 airfoils, two fuses
for fingerpeg, and a version with a finger step, and can have a lighter .75
oz glass or heavier 1.5 oz glass layup for wings ( mine is poly 1.5 oz and
is 4 oz finished)
After ordering, I received the kit the next business day!
I don't have too much time for building and am not too experienced and
sort of slow, but this went together easy and fast for me.
My final weight is 9 oz using the heavier poly wing, 555 rx, 150mah
battery, and HS50's.
Have just done a few tosses lately for trimming, and was
amazed.compared to a Terminator whos fuse I built scratch, this flew
feather light, penetrated well into stiff breezes, and with the lightest of
tosses I tooled around the field several times at low levelit didn't
seem to want to come down.
If I took the case off the 555, and used a 110 battery, I would probably
be closer to 8 oz.Using the lighter wing layup would maybe save another
1/2 oz.
If this sounds interesting, contact Rick Brown: [EMAIL PROTECTED] , or
Bill Haymaker: [EMAIL PROTECTED] for details. I believe the price can't
be beat!

[RCSE] Vacationing in NW PA

2000-07-04 Thread Marty Timm

The last week of July each year, my wife and I throw our horses in our horse
trailer and travel to Marionville, PA (about a half-hour south of Kane) for
a week of riding, camping, partying, etc. While that is great fun, a week
of vacation without flying tends to leave me suffering with Grumpy Pilot
Syndrome. If anyone knows of any places to fly or people to fly with,
please contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] (That's A-one-com, not the letter
"L".) I fly thermal, slope, and electric and would enjoy flying with people
with similar interests.

[RCSE] 3 cell pack for HL

2000-07-04 Thread Rick Brown and Jill Wiest

All,

Just put together a 3 cell 110mil pack for a HL.

My question is what can I expect to see as a peak voltage reading on
this pack when fully charged. I put the first charge on the new pack and
have a reading of 4.25 volts right off the charge.

Anybody using this size pack. Any info or advise along the lines of
charging and maintaining this style pack would be appreciated.

Thanks,
RB
