[RCSE] Flaps
Ok heres my problem or maybe 2. I have an Xtreme that has a flap problem. Im using an 8103 with Sherman Knights instructions. The Orlando Buzzard instructions and still im having problems getting the flaps to come down at the same time. Im using Multiplex servos. Im only able to get about 70-75 degrees of flap throw. Not enough. The servos will not operate at the same time. Im using the same setup that was in the SE modler review. What setup is everyone else using?? Does anyone have a pic of their setup. A pic is worth a thousand words. This is literally driving me insane trying to get this correct. Did I waste my money on the multiplex servos? Help! Jeff
[RCSE] INFO on the Polks Tracker Tranny
The first fully synthesized radio has been up graded for the 21st century. The programming cable has now been eliminated and more memory added. A scanner has been built into the transmitter and with the use of more SMT technology gives you even better reliability and lighter weight. Includes 1 standard servo, NiCad’s and charger. The 1024 STICK RESOLUTION is so precise that it gives you better control than digital servos, just using regular servos. Throw in a HIGH SPEED prosesser (40mHz) and you have control that has never been seen before. The TRACKER does a self-test every time it is turned on. This assures you that the radio is in perfect working order. The radio can scan the frequencies and it will not let you use a channel that is in use or has interference. This makes it IMPOSSIBLE to shoot someone down by inadvertently turning on your radio. Fully synthesized, with no switches or programming cables to go bad. Just hold your transmitter within 12 inches of the receiver antenna and wiggle the aileron stick until the servo starts to follow the stick. Once programmed, the receiver remembers the channel until reprogrammed, even with power off. By computerizing the generation of the signal, dead center, we eliminate the need for frequency tolerances Tolerances that decrease the performance of other radios.
RE: [RCSE] Channel check
If the AMA would mandate the use of a channel check module in every xmitter in say 10 years as a requirement for insurance, then we would have a system in place in 10 years. If we don't start sometime we will still be discussing this 10 years from now. Remember the phase in of narrow band equipment? Just a thought. However, I caution anyone from trying it. The majority of pilots are either cheap, have limited funds or *both*. This would be ridiculously simply to do and not too expensive. Yet, I know of *no one* who has. Have any of the guys who recently lost a thousand dollars worth of plane(s) and equipment decided to do it? I tend to doubt that there's really a market for this. Glitzy advertising and a cute plastic case could help but it would be challenging. Bill Swingle Janesville, CA [EMAIL PROTECTED] RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. RE: [RCSE] Channel check
One simple way of doing this without risking your servos or someone else's plane is to pick up a RX which is auto-shifting (I know the MX-6800 from MPI is one, although it is a low range rx, but I know I have seen some others like some from FMA that are full range), an extra rx battery pack, and a $20 plane locator (the ones that start beeping when you turn off your TX)... Just turn on this combo before your TX and if you don't hear beeping then it means there is someone else on your channel; hear beeping and you are good to go. I have used this method before and once it actually saved my friend's plane (he had changed planes/TX/channel while I was working on a plane and we were at a slope w/o freq pins); I would have hated to be the one to cause the destruction of his new plane.) [RCSE] Shot down personally
This thread rings close to home tonite. Earlier this evening our club was giving a demo for some school kids at a small field in suburban big-money acreage land. I flew a tried and trusted Quaker old-timer with at least a couple hundred flights logged (yes, it had an engine, no, it was off, but that's irrelevant) and after three successful flights the controls locked up about a thousand feet up and away and the result wasn't pretty. Extensive post-mortem shows the batteries were okay, the servos all function, a range check of the remains was okay and the switch was on and functional. And there were no other participating transmitters on my frequency. Which leads to the interference theory. I've been flying 26 years and have never experienced such an event and have a personal aversion to attributing pilot error to interference; I don't do that lightly. But the nagging thought that keeps coming back (considering the local landscape) is that there could have been someone in the vicinity innocently flying a slow-flyer in the back yard. I can't prove I got shot down, but can't help thinking it. The mass-appeal, anyone can do it mentality that goes with those damnable back yard abominations is going to signal the end of organized RC flying anywhere in radio range of modern suburbia... My personal stance it that I won't buy one, fly one or even suggest that anyone use them to get into the hobby. And if you have one, next time you flip the Tx switch to entertain the neighbors, stop and think about anyone else who could be flying in the vicinity. [RCSE] Joe Nall this weekend
I am working in Greenville SC, for a few weeks. Got a call from Howard Keller and Doug Barry, to come out and see the place. Boys, I thought that I died and went to sailplane heaven. As the Story goes, the owner was just feed up with golf courses, and built him self a grass airport for full scale and models.. This place is too Kool.. Located somewhere near Woodruff, SC. they have a website at http://www.joenall.com/ I got there really late in the afternoon, but I saw some really big Scale Ships...and I mean big.. The Event is on for the rest of the weekendAero tow and just plain fun. I am blowing off work today, just to go back out and watch, although Doug Barry and Bernie Coleman threatened to let me fly a Discus or something. My wallet is thimping... I will get a chance to tell them about the Nats Schedule change for next year , and the 2 days, count em 2 days of Scale flying.. Scary thought, maybe there should be assigned channels for backyard flyers. I believe RC Cars have assigned channels - Original Message - From: Loren Blinde [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, October 18, 2002 10:51 PM Subject: [RCSE] Shot down personally This thread rings close to home tonite. [RCSE] HKM video clips
Hi all; Well produced video clips with sound of the HKM molded scale ships are now online at Scalesoaring.net Check out the new 6.6 meter Nimbus performing inverted flight and looping, aerotowing, thermaling, high speed passing, and assembly. See the 4.29 meter ASW-27 doing same, and you can see why it will stand up to dynamic soaring loads. See the whats new page, or the HKM page for links to the videos. John D.
