Hi Robert,

ESCOMPOSITES is run by Ed Skorepa. Ed is one of our local flyers. I've bought just
about one of every Rival product that Ed imports from the Czech Republic, including
the Just (now called the Just Right), Fred (Sunrise/Sunset competition electric),
Trend (parkflyer/slow flyer), Pater (fun flyer SP400), and the G-Oldy (antique,
parasol wing, Antic looking SP280 park flyer).

Of all of these planes, in my opinion, the Just or Just Right is the best of the
group. I prefer the cruciform tail over the v-tail. It flies great, thermals quite
nicely, is well-built and can be assembled in 1-2 hours. Since the wing panels plug
together, the plane breaks down very small which allows me to stash a Just in my HLG
box with 3-4 other DLGs.

The pricing includes the plane, motor, prop, and speed controller. The included
Speed400, is a 7.2 volt, so you can run it on 8 cells for a bit more zip although it
runs just fine on 7 cells. The Just would be perfect for a "one design" LMR or 609
battery slot competition.

It's a hobbby. If you aren't competing, why bother to go out of town. I can fly all I want to every day of the week. All I have to do is tow my winch trailer for a 15 minute drive to one of the best flying sites in the US. Just boring holes in the sky is boring. I want to see how well I am doing against other flyers. I will admit that winning was much more important 30 years ago. Back then I won several trophies a year. Now I win a trophy every several years. As I grow older, it's retaining the ability to compete that's important. Not how often I win.

[RCSE] Calendar?

2003-01-05 Thread Lee Estingoy

Guys,

Is there a central web site with a calendar of soaring
events for the year?  I just went to the LSF site and other than the OVSS
events and a big picture of Jim Bacus it isn't much help.  Sorry
Jim.

Seems like this is easy enough to do and would be a big
help for planning future contests and fly-ins. I know this is technical writing
of sorts, but a little bit of HTML sure goes a long way

Thanks,

[RCSE] "I have Moths in winter!"

2003-01-05 Thread GordySoar
Hi guys,

I have just been working on two EPP Moths from NorthCountry Flying Machines and I have to tell you these things are pretty smart kits.

Some tiny things that make a big difference.  I have seen these little planes fly in the lightest of lift and absolutely rip in DS.

Can't wait to get mine finished and out to the slope.

I built two because I have found a way to trick my 26 year old son back into the hobby:-) Supply him with some simple fun planes.  First was a Sky Scooter from Hitec (a fun electric RTF).  Then when he came down to Kentucky for Thanksgiving I got him out to the slope for some foamy DS. Its working :-)

Re: [RCSE] Multiplex Milan

2003-01-05 Thread Neal Capener

Andy,

Set the Milan up excactly as the instructions recommend. Buy a
metric ruler if you have to.
Don't balance on your fingertips and guess the
cg.
Replace the 5 mm nylon wing hold down bolts with aluminum
bolts. The nylon bolts shearing off in flight is not a pretty
sight
Don't fly too slow at the beginning. Once you are used to the
Milan you see there is plenty of warning before tip stalling,... so keep up the
speed.

Regards,
Neal

[RCSE] Calendar?

2003-01-05 Thread Robert Waldridge
Would'nt it be great if we had a calendar of all soaring events across all clubs and
regions for the whole year?

Perhaps someone is interested in creating a web site with this info?
