[RCSE] Ava and Icon

2004-02-14 Thread Dan Borer
Since the boys at CVRC are thinking of banning the AVA from
the Bent Wing contest this May because it flies too well,
what are the chances they'll do the same to the Icon for the
Fall Fest?

Re: [RCSE] Visalia Bent Wing contest... Got TOPAZ???

2004-02-14 Thread Hank Schorz

Just give them a chance to review it. I can’t imagine
on what grounds they would make a decision to remove RES planes from the RES
class unless of course they change the class to RES classic which would then
leave out lots of RES planes. I know that pilots like Art McNamee fly built up
wings on an Addiction or Compulsion fuselage. How would that be allowed then?

funny... I thought it was the pilot and not the plane that
won a contest, I used to think it was the other way around
before... I hope they let me come play with them in May.
I have my travel plans all made out!!

I would check with Laird plastics in Dallas:

Laird Plastics Inc 10737 King William Dr
Dallas, TX 75220
Phone: (972)910-9404

or Wagner Plastics in Grand Prairie (don't have that number)
Before they moved, I had purchased phenolic and G10 fiberglass board
from them.

Well, okay maybe not sex, but close to it!

Louisville had a perfect Valentines Daymy Valentine took off to Lexington's Horse Park to watch my Daughter and her competition horse do some Cross Country Jump work,, which left me to well - fly!
The weather warmed to near 50, light to no wind, and a thin super high overcast sky with the occassional sun peaking through.  Winch and Tullahoma Retriever all charged -  and a flying buddy to share the sky withI donned my new USA F3J Long Sleeve GordySoar Personalized shirt and proceeded to rub elbows with the gods.

On deck was the breakout moldy of 2004, my Volz Powered Pike Superior,
and a trusty TD machine,My Compulsion (7035 variation, my new FS001 is on the boards close to finished)..

Since I hadn't thought to replace my Stylus memory card in nearly 8 years of owning it, I now get to reprogram all of my fleet of planes, today was a perfect day to get these two ships in the memory and sweeted up.
Ben (our LASS webmaster and neophyte TD guy) had his Spirit Elite with him.  (first time out to the field, he had all the throws at max..all of them going nearly 90...even I had a problem flying it...we got it all sorted down and tuned up... today was the perfect day to put his ship to 'work'.  Talking timer in full thoat and lift that was mysterious to find but huge when found, Ben headed up for about 20, ten minute flights (we put in a full day of soaring!).

What made it sweeter was wearing my USA Team F3J Fundraising shirt while maxing 10min flights and hitting 100s !

[RCSE] Musings and Airtronics Module Radio Question

2004-02-14 Thread Marc Gellart
For a kind of quiet Saturday, had a great day. Spent some time with the
full size guys in town and everytime I am there I meet someone new who is
cool to talk to. This couple was from Paducah KY and he comes up to STL to
fly his WoodStock homebuilt sailplane, got to see it and then in talking
found out he went to school at UT Arlington when I lived in Arlington about
the time I met Cecil Haga and started flying RC sailplanes. small world...

Then, went and ran an errand and found a classic DVD in of all places a drug
store, it was the '69 version of Battle of Britan. One really cool flick
and for $8.00 a steal, have watched it twice. There is some really great
flying and these guys that flew this get really close to stuff.

Finally, in the process of a puchase this weekend at PHX,
I came into pocession of an Airtronics Module radio, the predecessor of the
Vision. Now since that time someone said that they thought the guy who had
done the original ATRCS mod to the Module radios could still do it and was
working on them somewhere in CA. Anyone have any information on this?

Marc

Hopefully weather holds and we can fly Sno-fly this next weekend!

[RCSE] Can't subscribe with web-based mail?!?!

2004-02-14 Thread tjvan
Hi all,

Is it me or, is it not possible to subscribe to the list
with web-based email? I have tried three different accounts;
hotmail, yahoo, and mail.com. Every time, I get an error
from the list manager saying that there is no valid command.
However, I tried 4 or 5 times on each account, each time
with nothing other than "subscribe" (minus the ""'s) in the
body. Can anyone help?

TIA,

Tim
