So I have Pike Superiors which I love, and I have two of the new Pike Giant wings coming for them (its the super slope racer wing, extended to 130 and is the rage for TD now)and a custom painted Volz Powered new version Sharon on the boards too. Did I mention the F5J Pulsar 2005 I am picking up on my way to Toronto this week? So I was thinking on the plane back from Florida today, I need another sailplane! So during the take off while they were announcing to turn off cell phones, I asked the flight attendant to stop the roll out so that I could call Barry to get on the list. :-) Should be here around Dec or Jan, depending on how they come thru from CZ. How about you? Do you have a Supra on order too? Gordy Louisville for two day RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Model Aviation Nats 2005 issue
TOO Bad that the Powers to be, decided to do away with the most execellent coverage that was afforded us in the past... YOURS I suppose that it is just cheaper to pay one guy all year long, than to use the FREE labor from the SIGS for Nats Coverage.l Jim, You have done it right for us ion the past, but the ama has made it clear, that the readers, just want to see power stuff, and old farts chasing free flights thru corn fields... I have said it more than a few times, Thanks for your work in this arena for the Last couple of years... Re: [RCSE] Model Aviation Nats 2005 issue
I have to disagree with you Jack when you said that the AMA wants readers to see power stuff and free-flights. All they want us to see is all the advertisements. Where there actually any articles in this months issue? By the way, nice picture Johnny! Ed Franz RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Model Aviation 2005 NATS Issue
I, and apparently not a few others from this forum, missed the in-depth coverage of the soaring events so ably provided in the past by our own Jim Bacus. Granted, the daily Internet postings were first rate Internet postings and probably well-read by those not in attendance. But, the gee-whiz, here-I-am-at-my-first-NATS article was a poor substitute even though it featured one of Johnny Berlin's best pictures(sans Butch). I've always looked forward to the NATS issue to sort of refresh my memories (that gets more important as one ages) and get me to think about next year's NATS. Members of this forum, it's time to pop an email to the MA editor and let him know our views! Jim Deck RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Nats Coverage? Who Cares I now have Louvers on my Pike!
All that belly aching about the Nats coverage and no one bothered to mention the article on making really realistic louvers for your sailplanes. I guess MA can't please everybody all the time. Me? I'm busy starting my holiday shopping using the 2006 AMA Product Shopping Guide. Can we ever get enough of seeing an airplane trying to emulate a helicopter? Not me! If I had my way I'd have a photo of that on every cover of RC Soaring Digest Magazine instead of all those sailplane photos. I have to admit that I was kind of angry about the misleading cover! I had hopes of seeing the 'road' to the 2005 Nats but instead all I found was photos of model airplanes. What's with that? All kidding aside, this week I am driving up to Torontoto demonstrate aradio controlled version of my beach cleaning machine, and my wife is going to ride up with me. We are very excited about going over the Flight Data results of that Hobbistar 60. Over the past 35 years of marriage, we would often find ourselves in arguments over the exact stall speeds in level flight,,, she's pretty hard headed but now I have written proof This is one argument I'm gonna win. Well I have to roll up my paint booth for now to get ready for the trip(wish I could put this part upside down) so see you all at the next Natsthat is IF we find that road Gordy
Re: [RCSE] Model Aviation Nats 2005 issue
*Under* whelmed? I was surprised you were whelmed at all! Though, you've got to admit, three color photos of sailplanes is three more than I've seen in MA in the last few years :) Do any of the non-AMA flying hobby 'zines cover the NATS at all? I mean, someone has to tell the rest of the world that the NATS exists... *sigh* James V. Bacus wrote: Well I was completely underwhelmed by the Nats soaring coverage in the November Model Aviation.
