[RCSE] JR770's...

2006-06-27 Thread -Les
Thanks all. I somehow overlooked the 3-yr warranty...so back they
go. Meanwhile, 790's sound like a 'sound' replacement.
Appreciate all the feedback ... and yea, I 'll get to the nats
someday. Have to cancel my own contest to do so, but yea, I'll get there.

Thanks all!

2006-06-27 Thread Todd Larsen
Hi All,

Please, can anyone shead some light on the flaws of the 770s by JR? I
hace 2 and one has worked flawlessly...so far. The other is in a bird just
now programmed and is ready for a maiden launchso NOW I am a bit
wondering IF I should yank the 770 out before the maiden Lauch or just chuck
it? Any input from all of you is always greatly appreciatedbeen lots of
help here for me over the last couple years.

Thanks in advance.

RE: [RCSE] JR 770 RX's?????

2006-06-27 Thread John Diniz
Todd,

Why do feel the 770 is flawed? The 790 and 720 ScanSelect receivers are just
the natural progression of the JR receiver line. These receivers eliminate the
need for crystals which can be easily damaged if miss-handled or dropped.

Regards,
JD

[RCSE] So you wanted a Plane Stand Like Gordy's?

2006-06-27 Thread GordySoar

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Tor Burkhard knocked out some that look like the Super Stands, big
surprise, since there aren't many new mousetraps out there. (He's likely to make
millions on this once its released on Home Shopping Network..). He just
decided to make a few extra since he was making some for himself, me and another
Louisville pilot.
But instead of Luann, his is made of aircraft plywood parts. Looks like
they are CNC cutbut he probably just spilled some Killians Red on
them.

It is take apart just like mine so it's parts fit into the bottom of the
Sportube.
He's asking $55 and some shipping, and no there's no website for you to
ooogle at.

It has the same 1/4/20 blind nut in the bottom as a camera so a camera
stand plugs right in, I have a steel pipe post with a 1/4 bolt sticking out the
top and a big nail sticking out the bottom for use on the field.

I pity the fool doesn't get one on order, cuz like other cool stuff like
this, the builders get bored or burned out and you miss the boat.
Send him an email if you want one, otherwize leave him alone, he hardly
gets to fly sailplanes at all as it is :-)

Re: [RCSE] JR 770 RX's?????

2006-06-27 Thread Jim Laurel

Todd,
You needn't worry about the R770. It is a very, very good receiver,
tried and trusted for many years by many avid model sailplane
pilots. I probably have over 20 of the things and have used them in
slopers, molded TD ships, woodies, pylon racers, park flyers - you
name it. I've never had a failure with it or any other JR PCM RX for
that matter. It has proven every bit as reliable as the old R649 for
me.

Like many, I am now switching to the R790 on my TD stuff for
convenience reasons. But that's only to cope with frequency
congestion at contests. I will continue to use the 770s in other
planes, though. You can't go wrong either way.

The magazine article advises that the CG is 3 5/8 to 3 3/4 behind the
LE. I would start with the CG in the middle of the spar before moving
it rearward. The rudder throw is 1 1/2 each way and the elevator is
3/8 up and 3/8 down

Hey Todd, the 770 RX is just fine, I am flying 5 of them. Do not let one guy
with an issue make you change. Do your range check and it is good, you are
fine.

[RCSE] Re: Is there something else comparable to the Litco Alpha 4

2006-06-27 Thread SteveR

Sommer chargers will run rings around Litco. Charges 5 batteries at a
time, any types and does all the other stuff like cycle,
charge/discharge, etc. You plug in one battery, tell the charger the
battery type and what you want to do with it e.g. charge, discharge,
cycle, etc., plug into the next battery to the next port, repeat the
process, etc. It remembers the type of battery each port did last so
you don't have to tell it the battery type if you constantly plug say a
nicad into port 1 all the time.

In truth, it doesn't charge them all simultaneously (though you can set
it to do that), its real strength is it does up to 5 packs one after the
other without any intervention.

The only downside, you have to order from Germany but I've done so and
it's no big deal. Not the cheapest chargers but if you have a lot of
packs of various types, it's a great piece of hardware.

You can order the charger to run on 110, 220 and 12 volts (has all the
converter circuits built in).

Good luck,

Steve
