Re: [RCSE] Mythbusters: Concrete Glider

2006-11-08 Thread Martin Usher

It'll probably fly OK in water. In air it might have to travel a bit fast.

It reminds me of my days years ago as a very impoverished English
person. A friend had a minivan and come the MoT (annual vehicle test) it
was condemned when the tester put a hammer through the rusted read
subframe. Not having the money to fix or replace the subframe was made
good by filling it with concrete and then coating it with underseal. The
friend says to me at the time "Lets see him put a hammer through
*that*". Thirty years later the vehicle still exists. Concrete has its
uses; I don't think its going to have much of a future as a wing core
material, though.

and shared some great landing ideas at Visalia ("Hey Rick, let's try landing
where the cars aren't this time"), and I haven't ponied up yet, I'll be
Mr. $202.  We have a lot of good people fighting the good
fight up here and they need our support.See you next year at
Visalia.Cheers,Rick HelgesonOkay
Guys,
The challenge was for three of you to one $ up my
donation!  Rick took the easy way out by being second and got off cheap,
now its up to the real heroes to step up with the big bucks!
So who's gonna be Mr $203 and Mr $204?

Hi Mehrdad,

It was nice seeing you at Visalia.

Yep, that's the one. Comes with everything but the battery.

I have all the stuff that goes with it as well. Foot pedal, F3X
turnaround, clamshells for different drum sizes, etc.

[RCSE] FS - NYX

2006-11-08 Thread Simon Van Leeuwen
The carbon NYX platform has been one of the sweetest flying aircraft I
have ever owned. We have slope condition around here that rival anything
worldwide. This aircraft was my first choice for showing folks just how
fast (>270mph), agile (I caught it consistantly even fully ballasted),
and truely aerobatic (large vertical eights). Some of you out there know
what I mean when you have a "real" sweet-spot for certain airframes, for
the slope this is mine.

However...dumb thumbs due to brain-fade recently had it hovering in
front of my hand during a catch, only to input the incorrect command and
cause it to slid down on the left wingtip and blow back onto it's tail.
The result is a fracture at the fin base and a smunched left tip. Being
low to the GND and no forward speed (sloping conditions) during this
period of brainless showing off, the damage is repairable, but I'm way
too busy.

I carefully installed the equipment in this particular NYX to help
varify parameters in parallel to designs/experiments for setting an F3B
speed record. Other than the recent incurred damage it is in excellent
shape (linkages very tight, etc). Blue bottoms, white tops, with
blue/yellow tips. Includes the HP PnP harness (22awg TEFLON) with
Wing-Maxx+ on AIL, 94141's on ELEV/FLP, and a small MG on RUDD. An LED
voltage display is visible thogh a neat little slot in the CF canopy.
Includes a 5cell NiCD pack, and a full ballast set (plus dummy plugs).

So my loss is someone else's gain, First $700 takes it. Hi-res
pics available upon request.

[RCSE] Wanted NIB Sapphire or Addiction Kit

2006-11-08 Thread D S
We are looking for a Sapphire Kit that Ed Whyte of WHYTE WINGS manufactured
and sold. I have a son that is turning 12 and thought it would make a good
open-class for him. We are really wanting the SD-7037 airfoil so we would
also consider the Addiction if the price was right.

Thanks
