[RCSE] LiPo's on a Plane

2007-12-29 Thread Peter Klemperer

Hi,

A while back someone was asking about policies for taking batteries on a
plane. Seems the DOT is clamping down a bit on the number of
batteries we're allowed to carry-on:

In summary:
* Any number in devices (e.g. in your cell, laptop, etc.)
* "Loose" batteries not in devices must be in a plastic bag in the carry-on
* 2 "loose" only per passenger

That's my understanding anyway.

Cheers,
Peer

[RCSE] Re: New Supra Info

2007-12-29 Thread Craig Allen
Daryl,

Here's an email I got some time ago from one of my East European friends with a
full description of the changes Vladimir made to some of his models...I posted
it on bayrc.com but forgot to post it here.

I changed the order so the Supra info is first. It looks like the hot setup is
the Supra Carbon / Glass Light :-)

Craig

Dear friends,

A year of hard work yielded a number of exciting new products we are

happy to offer to you for Christmas:

 3. Supra's ailerons became longer, they are now available across the
full length of the wings tip section.
4. Wings tip of Supra Glass have been redesigned, which reduced their
weight by 7...8 grams (0.25...0.28 oz)--now, they are 18...20 grams
(0.6...0.7 oz) lighter than the wing tips of Supra Carbon Light.
The new design also resulted in the greatly increased strength of the
ailerons.

In our opinion, the best combination for F3J competition is a model with
the central wing section from Supra Carbon or Supra Carbon Light and the
wing tips from Supra Glass. We call this combo "Supra Carbon/Glass Light".

1. DLG Blaster2 is now also offered for left hand launch! When placing

an order, you can add a note which

version, left- or right-handed, you would like (by default, we ship

right-handed version).

2. Graphite 2 is now manufactured with a new nose section for electric

power system.

The new nose is much safer and more convenient:

  Your’s sincerely,
Vladimir Gavrilko.

[RCSE] Good guy (and cool plane) alert

2007-12-29 Thread Daryl Perkins
Hey guys,

It was quiet... a little too quiet... ;-)

Last week I rec'd my newest Supra from Barry Kennedy. They continually
upgrade their kit. The ailerons now go all the way to the tips. I don't
have anything to compare weight, but Barry said the tips are about 1
ounce lighter per side. Torsionally, they seem better than my last
Supra. The fuse is 2.4 ghz friendly, and is about 1 1/2 ounces lighter
than my last one. The center panel has the wires installed. (So a dry
weight comparison wouldn't really be fair). There are even neat little
templates included to appropriately set the TE. Oh, and a machined
ballast kit

I plan on using this model to represent the US at the next F3J world
champs.

I'll post an AUW when I'm done. I don't do anything special during the
build to save weight. I just build them out.

Thanks Barry!!! In my opinion, the best TD/F3J model available anywhere
today. And before you ask, yes, I pay for them.

See ya'll in Phoenix!!!

[RCSE] LSF Club Coordinator of the Year (2006-2007)

2007-12-29 Thread Bill Rakozy
To:  Lennart Andersson (LSF Country Coordinator, Sweden) and RC Soaring
Enthusiasts Worldwide!

When dealing with a large group of volunteers in any type of organization
it’s always rewarding to notice a few individuals who rise to the top
without much guidance or supervision.  Right from the start they understand
the mission and get the job done while making it look easy.

As Secretary of LSF for the past two years (2006-2007), I have been
impressed with the efforts of Lennart Andersson, LSF Country Coordinator for
Sweden.  Through his encouragements and personal involvement, during just
the past two years, Lennart helped a number of soaring pilots in Sweden
become involved in LSF and begin their personal LSF journey.

LSF records indicate:
24 individuals began as new LSF Aspirants
10 pilots completed Level 1 and became new LSF Members
  5 finished LSF Level 2
And a number of people who use to be involved in LSF have renewed their
interest in LSF

This is outstanding work and the LSF Board would like to express our thanks
for your tireless efforts on behalf of LSF.  To recognize your outstanding
volunteer contributions, The League of Silent Flight Board has conferred
upon Lennart Andersson (LSF #3448) the title of Club Coordinator of the Year
(2006-2007).  We are sending you a specially engraved LSF glass mug which
will be shipped to you in January.

Congratulations Lennart!

Bill Rakozy
Secretary
League of Silent Flight

On Behalf of the 2006-2007 LSF Board:
