RE: [RCSE] Bright color welded ring
What about chutes You Guys do not use them on winch lines They can be bright and well visible ZM _ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 11:48 PM To: soaring@airage.com Subject: [RCSE] Bright color welded ring Annodized steel rings are great! Extremely light too. In the annodizing process the steel is melted away by the acids leaving only the color. Really stands out in the sun, your pilots won't have any trouble picking up the wrong lines. Or you could use a short colored piece of leader line to the rings, Mason line can be found in florescent pink, yellow, orange and green at contractor supply houses that sell to the masonary crowd. You'll have to check on the line strength to get a piece strong enough, but its out there. I had been using it for years on my winch and bungees. Since its a short piece you don't have to have that strong of a piece, and of course you can double it up. Gordy ** Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Re: [RCSE] Re: bright color welded ring
You don't anodize steel. It won't hold up. You can epoxy paint it or clean the ring well and use bright red nail polish. It will still wear on the inside, but should be quite visible. Easy to re-coat when needed. [RCSE] Bright color welded ring
Does anyone know of a source of 1 inch welded steel rings which have been anodized in some bright eye catching color? The guys are always picking up the wrong ring or end of the launch harness and standing there confused. It would be really convenient to say "the red one is the right one!" Many thanks, Jim
