Blah...Blah...Blah,
Then the wind turned around and we were able to fly three rounds of eight
minutes each. No one made the times so we flew three more...

I did some flying at the Lost Wages field today and want to thank them for
the welcome I received as a visitor.
Here is a bunch of guys that have literally scraped a flying field out of
the raw wilderness.
Thanks Guys,

[RCSE] Vision help

2005-03-18 Thread David J. Butkovich
Anyone still using Vision (Atrax)? I can't get the flaps to work in
conjunction with the ailerons. I set values and nothing happens.
Flaps go almost 90 and reflex is fine. It's the full trailing edge movement
that is evading me.
TIA

[RCSE] XC remembered

2004-09-28 Thread David J. Butkovich
It had to be fifteen + years ago out at Taft CA. Joe was flying with Don
Vickers crewing. I was flying Gentle Ladies at the time and was just there
observing. I was drafted by a team to time and went for it. We passed a
few 'short flight landings' and were passed by a few teams. The most
memorable moment for me was looking through the pick-up's rear window and
seeing the needle cross 80mph. The pilot was smacking the cab yelling
faster, faster. I looked back at the plane as it easily passed us.
If you can get the support team I think this is pure soaring.
Thanks,
Dave

How many transmitters do you have?

Two Airtronics Visions. Atrax upgrades.

Bonus question: How many antennas do you have for any one Tx?

Stock.

  suivre.

Re: [RCSE] AMA Nats/not really a contest

1999-08-22 Thread david j. butkovich

that means if i am an excellent pilot and i do come out on top, i'm still
dirt poor (can't afford the air fares) and have a job that doesn't allow
time out for championship competition, the competition generated will be
those who don't have restraints on their lives.

Sorry, but I couldn't be quiet on this one.

I understood and agree with the author's logic. The point I took home
was, since there was no system of qualifications like you might find in
a baseball tourney, the nats hardly rate as a overall national
championship.

This is not to say that it is not a great achievement to do well in a
contest with so many entrants. But, it is not as great an achievement
as it could be if there were local and regional qualifiers from around
the counrty.

In 1976, I won the Std class B group at the nats simply because I was
the only one to enter. An extreme example I admit, yet it illustrates
the point. Again, the point as I understood it, A true national
championship contest should be the culmination of a number of local and
regional events. The winners of these events would then meet to duke it
out for the title of national champ. There should be more required to
enter than just time money.

Somebody kick this soapbox from under me before I hurt myself :)
