I am in the need of a Manual for the Airtronics
Quasar transmitter. Does anyone have one that I could purchase. Or
possibly if someone has one and does not need it any longer, I could put it to
good use.

Thanks,

Dave

[RCSE] Help with identifying sailplane

2005-10-02 Thread David Whitaker
Vince,
Apeears to look a lot like an Airtronics Aquila. That was a standard 100
so maybe this is an Airtronics Aquila XL That's my best guess.

I recently purchased several large sailplanes from a
friend of a friend. The lot originated from a pilot
who had passed away. I want to gather information on
the sailplanes before I start playing with them, but I
do not recognize one of them.
The Bird of Time is easy to recognize, and the book
that came with the Mystery Ship makes ID easy. But
the third sailplane is unknown to me. It has a 12'7
wingspan, RES, fiberglass fuse. Pictures available
 here:
 http://www.vinceherman.net/tempsailplane/IMG_3582.JPG
 http://www.vinceherman.net/tempsailplane/IMG_3588.JPG

I can take more pictures or answer any questions on
the model to help. Thanks in advance.
 Vince

p.s. To see the whole mess piled up in my garage,
alone with the transmitter, histarts, a NIB Bird of
Time kit and a 2 meter Spirit that I got from another
 club member, go here:
 http://www.vinceherman.net/tempsailplane/
 I think I got a good deal. :)

[RCSE] Fw: Winch Batteries

2005-05-21 Thread David Whitaker

To add to my original request for information on
the best batteries to use on a winch. I have heard that you should use a
certain charger. Or a certain type of charger different from the typical
car battery charger. Is there any truth to that. Do Optima batteries
need to be charged differently?

Thanks again

I know this was discussed some time ago. And
I didn't pay attention then. Now I need the information. What is the
best battery to use for winches.

Thanks

I believe you have to order it direct.

There is also the Telario, which bares a striking resemblance:

And also the TEK, but it doesn't talk:

I think the landing is the hardest part! As in full scale soaring, the

In soaring contests there are several cases where everyone will stay up!
The lift is everywhere... The precision landing aren't nessesarily DORK
landings. They are what you make them.. If your speed and pattern are
correct. It will be a nice low energy landing. I think the DORK landings
are a result of inproper speed. Going to fast makes a pilot drive it in
to hard. They have no choice, if they want landing points.. I try never
to have to drive a model in hard. Besides, the rules for unlimited are
very stricked. You can't loose a part on landing. You can't flip over!
In F3J european event!!! They are allowed to drive them in and destroy
them if they want.. As long as the nose cone stays on the tape, they are
 ok!!
I think that makeing a low energy landing is a very hard thing to do
everytime with conditions the we deal with.. The models will take a
slightly hard DORK. But I have seen very hard DORKS.. There is no reason
for that... Well? Except for Visalia. Where they set up for down wind
landings.. Very different comared to what we are use to. But never the
less a challenge. And everyone is on the same page.
I think it is much better to master the landings than to change the
rules... There are many people who would like to see skeggs go away to..
If they do?? Fine!! I will learn to land with out skeggs...
 Cheers

Hi, Would anyone know if it is possible to retrieve lost set ups in the

looked at the time I packed in a rush and left the Tx. on in it's case
and Monday morning I went down to the shop to charge everything I was
flying just to top them off, when I discovered that I had left the Tx.
on and it was flat. I quickly put it on charge and after 12 hours or so
I turned it on and all the programs where gone. I hate to have to
reprogram it I have 5 planes on it. I am just hoping someone would know
how to retrieve them. Thank you in advance. Ray

I beleive that the memory is held with a different battery then the
transmitter power battery. The power battery can be completely removed and
not lose the set-ups. It may just happen that the internal 5-year lithium
battery happened to give up at the same time. I don't think the two
interact in any way.

You guys found the main flaw in a Vision; if you run the tranny all the way
down, you lose the programing. I guess that's why the low power warning
beeper is so loud! There is no internal battery backup.

How do the settings remain when the battery back is removed?

[RCSE] Lost Web pages

2000-02-19 Thread David Whitaker

I recently had the misfortune of having a hard drive failure. Had to reload
most software. Also lost all of my web pages, addresses and bookmarks. I
can not relocate the web page for the Stratos SL sailplane and the foreign
web page featuring the Xantipa (called Le Xantipa) Any help would be
greatly appreciated. I am interested in any pages featuring molded
sailplanes, so if anyone wishes to contribute new additional pages that
would be welcomed

Thanks
