[RCSE] 2.4 Questiion - Antenna Radiation Pattern

2008-03-21 Thread Dee Smith
What kind of a pattern does the 2.4 tx antenna have? Is it sensitive to
orientation like
a 72 Mhz tx? In other words, do you have to point the antenna at the
plane or hold

it broadside to the plane?

Re: [RCSE] War contractors making military models a royalty pain - was: ...Killing the Kit Business

2005-02-15 Thread Dee Smith

Quoting from the article, "The company wants to ensure that the models are accurate,
high-quality and safe, Adams said.".
(Adams is a Lockheed
Martin spokesman.)
Notice the last word, he says "safe". They don't want to get sued as a
deep
pocket when someone gets hurt by one of their "unapproved" models. Make
the royalty high enough and no one will sell
the models. Therefore, all models made are unapproved and Lockheed Martin has no
responsibility.

Follow the big money.

George,
Would you please list some of these planes you are recommending below?

Well, Stan, a friend of mine suffered a similar fate when he found he needed
some heart work. Walking back and forth to chase the 'chute, set up and
tear down were too much for him to handle alone. He went to electric
sailplanes. There are several planes you can get that weigh less than 80
ounces ready to fly. They have quite spirited launches with their brushless
motors, and land slow and controlled with their flaps and ailerons in the
'crow' position.
I know that doesn't directly solve the rewind problem, but I thought I'd
throw this out to you. gv
