[RCSE] FS Astroflight 109 Poly-Lipo charger

2005-11-10 Thread Ron Widel
Jared,
I don't know if you figured it out, but I don't want to buy, a
charger, I'm selling one.
I don't know what's up with you people, hijacking a for sale thread and
saying to go somewhere else and buy it cheaper.
Would you stand in front of Costco with a sign and tell people to shop
at Wal Mart for something you could buy cheaper there?
I think your convoluted ethics stink!

[RCSE] Foamies versus Glass Slippers

2005-10-12 Thread Ron Widel
What's the world coming to?

POS foam almost wiping out my Visalia hero, if one comes through the
windshield; you'll have to resort to using your cape.

With all the air traffic, somebody's going to have to paint white
lines up there.

Back in my day it was just Godzilla we had to worry about, smashing'
planes and before that it was King Kong doing the same damn thing.

I can even remember way, way, back the time a Rodent almost
knocked down the Golden Gate Bridge.

Ahhh, things gotta get better.

Fly safe Big D, you're the only one we got.

[RCSE] CVRC Special hotel rate at the Hoiday Inn Visalia

2005-09-19 Thread Ron Widel
The Hoiday Inn has a special reduced rate on rooms for the Fall Fest.
The regular $119 rate is reduced to $72 if you mention you're with the
CVRC contest.

They have a limited block of 40 rooms so, first come, first served.

For those who don't know, the Inn is just a couple of miles from the
field.

Larry, Thanks for booking us the rooms.

Re: [RCSE] RE: Airtronics new digital wing servo

2005-09-05 Thread Ron Widel
John,

In the past 15 years I've flow all the in servos.
It used to be Air. 141's or JR 341's for ailerons Futaba 3002's
for flaps, and various servo's for rudder and stabs.
In the latter years when the new generation of servos came to the
fore and Mann Tau started to import the blue Volt's, our eyes were
opened to the new upgraded servo. Then Carlton brought in the red
servos.
JR started to improve the market with the great Didgal 368 with
fantastic centering. Each time people flocked to the improvement.
Now Airtronics has again raised the bar. and I say Lead on and
they have never given me one servo, ( all the rest of the servo
companies haven't either) I don't fly well enough to warrant a promo.

Now my thoughts on service..
VOLTZ
I've owned about a dozen Voltzs over the years, and I sent back
seven or eight for repair ( I have another one for you Gordy, I'll
bring it to Visalia) so I felt I was field testing them for Michael.

JR flown many, many JR's, I sent some 341's back to Horizon after
I called and they said they would repair as needed and a couple of
weeks latter they arrived back on my doorstep with a note from
Horizon stating they were not repairable. With no explanation,

Multiplex
Never used

Airtronics
Flown hundreds, Best service by far over the last fifteen years.
I still own four Vision radio's, (They work for me and I'm too old
to change radio's in mid flight) the service is prompt and personal.
You can talk to service and Jack the Guru Tetchy for probably
the last twenty years or more for any software program-related
problem.
But if they, can't fix servo or radio, their policy is to send you
a new replacement for half the original price if the item is over
the warranty period. What a deal! and that's my 2 cents
worth.
And if I stop by the Airtronics booth at Visalia and they give me a
hat, I'll proudly wear it!
Is that the way to suck, D ? and if D gets a servo once in a while,
he's no threat to you, cause he can't see any more and he's still
gonna go to hell anyway,, right BoZo

You only get the servo you deserve

[RCSE] AMA the Nats. Radio Policy ?

2005-07-28 Thread Ron Widel
This is a question to any contestants at the Nats. or attendee's

I know the AMA's offical radio policy is, that no non factory post
radio modifications are allowed.
I know many modifications take place and seem to go un noticed ie.
battery MAH's, Switch modifications, computer prom changes to add more
model memory.
But what I'm really interested in is the change you can really see and
that is the deletion of the factory whip antenna and the replacement of
the Rubber Duck type of antenna.

Well back to the question, do any of you there see any ducky
type antennas and AMA just turns a bind eye?
Thanks for any info,

[RCSE] Davenport ISR

2005-05-21 Thread Ron Widel
I just got back from the ISR MOM slope races and it was awesome.
Wind averaged well over 30 mph and gusting to over 40 mph The lap speed
were up near record times.
The caliber of pilots, the best, ( th who's who of slope racing but the
air was very turbulent and I've never seen more mid-airs and crashes at
one event (I lost count after 8)and I left about half way through.
The landing also were extra challenging as the rotors were terrible.
A sight I'll remember was Walter Lynch body surfing in the Pacific
Ocean to recover his errant sailplane.
The sun was out, the wind was howling and Davenport was the place to be
this Saturday.
With all the carnage I never heard one word of complaint or whining. it
was slope racing in all it's glory.

2005-05-06 Thread Ron Widel
I bought a real nice condition Vision transmitter on eBay and forgot
to ask the seller if it was an 8 model Vision and when it came, low
and behold I found in my oversight I had purchased a 4 model memory
Vision.
Some time later in a conversation with long time Airtronics
technicitian Jack Albrect,he mentioned than a gentelman was still
installing an upgrade PROM in the older Vision's.
Regards, Ron Widel

So here's that information if anyone needs an upgrade in the future.
If you can, remove the battery, antenna and RF module to save
shipping costs.

Price is $80 plus $10 S/H/I.

[RCSE] Airtronics Vision/Stylus the #92778 receiver, Finally Solved!

2005-05-03 Thread Ron Widel
Hi Again,
Well I finally have the non working, new Slimline 7/8 channel Airtonics
#92778 receicver, working, here's the secret!

Turn all your plugs upside down. Yes, turn all your plugs over and even
the battery plug.

Airtronics say's this is the only receiver in their line with this
unique feature.

My guess is that the plastic molder reversed the process and put the
teenie chamfer on the top of the servo plug slot, instead of the lower
portions.

Of course the colors are reversed from left to right and from right to
left.

I think a small sip of paper highlighting this process with the receiver
would forwarn people to this one change to one receiver in the entire
Airtronisc line.

Also a note on this change and or picture on (Airtronics.net) web site
near the Z-connector page, om this change would be very helpful.

If you don't understand what I tried say about the upside down part,
please contact Airtronics at (714)978-1895 and maybe they can expain it
better.

[RCSE] WTB Set of Wings

2005-05-03 Thread Ron Widel
I'd like to buy a set of plug in wings approx. 120-130 plus.
They can be built-up, obechi, bagged or molded. Must take full pedal
launch.
With approx. 10 cord. Servo's not important, but must be able to fish
new servo wire if none installed.
Airfoils from SD7037, RG15, MH32, or in that range.
Pretty is not important, must be structurally sound, and minor dings
O.K.
If you have something gathering dust an would like flown, give me a
ping and see if we can work a deal.
That means you DP

[RCSE] Airtronics Vision and the #92778 receiver Solution!

2005-04-30 Thread Ron Widel
Hi Again,
The solution at this time, is still no solution!
First let me say, I have four Vision Radios and will probably always
fly the Airtronics Vision radio.
Well I have tried every combination of mix and match and still no
results.
A few weeks ago I purchased the 778 receiver and crystal but couldn't
get it to work, so I sent it back Airtronics, and with Skip Millers
help a brand new receiver and crystal was on my front porch, 2nd day
air (Skip, yer da man), anyway, same thing again, I couldn't get any
response from the servo's, not one twitch, dead! So, I pulled out my
friends Stylus, and again no luck, not a movement, then I pulled a new
92186z out of the box and the Stylus made that work fine.
Conclusion? none!
Thank everyone who took the time to write me and try to help solve my
problem, I tried every suggestion even if I may have tried it before,
because, you never know.
Thanks to you all, best regards, Ron Widel

To all the helpful responders,

The Vision is set on PPM as the 92778 is a FM receiver.

At this point I've tried everthing that all the responder's have
