Re: [RCSE] RCSD, Still the SOURCE for RC Up to Date Info...2.4

2007-11-24 Thread Thomas Frazier
Gordy,

You are absolutely right.

There are many articles covering contests, unbiased reviews, how-to's and
tips in every issue covering all genres of RC Soaring.

Over the years RCSD has remained the only RC soaring specific publication
the hasn't sold out to electrics or even glow/gas powered airplane
interests.

I am hoping that RCSD will continue to grow providing even more coverage
from tiny HLG's to huge giant scale sailplanes.

Donation made.

Feel free to contribute money (you can do it at
http://www.rcsoaringdigest.com/highlights.html) (used to be $40 a year for
 paper copies)

Sherman Knight has come up with two articles featuring the Spectrum system
used in a 2.4 friendly fuse version. A lot of detail and install photos.

The first article is a review of the system, and doesn't give more than a
single line about carbon blocking, but the second does state 2.4 friendly
Supra version (Kevlar fuse, not the standard carbon/kevlar fuse material
used in just about every molded ship made (not Sharons).

The whole issue is filled with excellent articles with contributions from
 as far away as Israel.

Take a look and prepared to get a lot smarter about 2.4!

Re: [RCSE] OT: Can anything be done with frosted headlight covers?

2006-09-22 Thread Thomas Frazier
Hi Stan,

I have sanded/polished my headlight lenses before. The Dodge/Chrysler Caravans are notorious for fogging up over time. Got to be so bad that I had to drive with my brights on just so I could see at night.

Because it was too hard to sand the lenses on the van without scratching the paint, I removed the headlight assembly from the body of the van.I sat in the driveway, on alawn chairin my shorts, with a towel on my lap and wet sanded the the lenses with progressively finer sandpaper.Have the hose there also and use plenty of water.I started with 320 and and worked my way through the progressively finer grits to 1200. I finished off withpolishing compound. Total time start to finish about
2.5 hours and I saved about $500 for new lenses.

My lenses ended up crystal clear with no scratches.

You can get the finer grades of sandpaper at your local auto parts store by the paint section.

Regards,
Tom

Can we get the prints on the back of the shirts too.
I personally don't like anything except a small logo or such on the front.

[RCSE] Need Custom Wings Built

2004-09-28 Thread Thomas Frazier
Who builds custom wings nowadays?

I need a couple sets of bagged wings for two Multiplex fuselages that
I have. The wingspans are around 120 and the airfoils are Wortman FX
60/126 and Eppler 212 I believe.
